The satisfying elements of both stout and coffee come together in this full-bodied treat. A marriage of Sumatra's best with rich chocolate and roasted malt provides for a truly enlightening beer.

I shouldn’t have had this beer this late in the evening, I might be up all night. Coffee pervades this beer, obviously, but it doesn’t completely over power the beer or the drinker. Pours opaque black with a thin mocha head and a burst of sweet latte scent. The coffee grounds hit immediately upon the first sip but mellow out quickly to a roasty, creamy, chocolatey back end that blends fantastically in the mouth. It’s not a heavy mouthfeel either so drinking it is very easy. For a coffee specific beer, this one is at the top of the list.

Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with a tan head. Aromas of coffee along with dark roasted malt and some chocolate. Flavour is predominantly coffee and roasted malt, chocolate and a nice bitter finish. Great full body.

Nice black pour with a light brown head. Heavy coffee aroma upfront. Tastes of coffee, bitter chocolate and roasted malt. Lots of flavor here. Nice thick texture. Really good beer from Bell, ’s.

Old rating. Awesome coffee forward beer. Pretty much espresso/coffee flavor all the way through. Maybe a little oak and chocolate too. Not too heavy. Real tasty.

Pours very dark brown, with a tan head. Aroma of rich dark coffee. Taste is similarly heavy with good coffee. A very good, uniquely coffee-oriented brew. Thumbs up!

Very dark coffee smell, very dark, heavy and strong coffee but fairly smooth, finishes with coffee grounds but not in a bad way, coffee is all you taste though, one dimensional...

A unique beer, as you’ll see a lot of "coffee" beers that you barely taste the coffee. This java stout tastes exactly as it sounds. Was a little on the strong side (alcohol content) for it’s flavor, but I’m certain that’s what they were shooting for. Relatively heavy for a stout, with a bitter aftertaste.

A little woody. A little thin with a hint of burnt coffee. Not bad. Solid take on the style

Pours a solid black with a tan head. It has a nice coffee aroma with some toasted malt and a bit of coffee. The flavor is rich coffee and toast with a bit of chocolate and a smooth, slightly dark chocolate finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Overt coffee and rich malt. Pours black with a massive brown head that lingers well. Roast and coffee dominate flavor with a slight fruitiness (dark fruits) on the end. Moderate bittering, could be a little from the roast. A very slight sourness appears in this beer, which is nice. Coffee is a little overpowering.

Jet black with a khaki head. Smells of coffee, anise, dark roasted malt. Huge coffee taste. Fairly creamy not getting the chocolate of most stouts and way more coffee. If you like coffee beers this is a good one to try.
