4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
I shouldn’t have had this beer this late in the evening, I might be up all night. Coffee pervades this beer, obviously, but it doesn’t completely over power the beer or the drinker. Pours opaque black with a thin mocha head and a burst of sweet latte scent. The coffee grounds hit immediately upon the first sip but mellow out quickly to a roasty, creamy, chocolatey back end that blends fantastically in the mouth. It’s not a heavy mouthfeel either so drinking it is very easy. For a coffee specific beer, this one is at the top of the list.

Pours a solid black with a tan head. It has a nice coffee aroma with some toasted malt and a bit of coffee. The flavor is rich coffee and toast with a bit of chocolate and a smooth, slightly dark chocolate finish.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Overt coffee and rich malt. Pours black with a massive brown head that lingers well. Roast and coffee dominate flavor with a slight fruitiness (dark fruits) on the end. Moderate bittering, could be a little from the roast. A very slight sourness appears in this beer, which is nice. Coffee is a little overpowering.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Jet black with a khaki head. Smells of coffee, anise, dark roasted malt. Huge coffee taste. Fairly creamy not getting the chocolate of most stouts and way more coffee. If you like coffee beers this is a good one to try.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle at home while in Jacksonville. Pours dark brown/black with a red edge and a tan head. Nice aroma with milk choc, light grass, light vanilla and sweet milky coffee. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. There’s woody toasty ash, milk and bitter dark choc, slightly stale coffee, hint of mustiness, vanilla, light hazelnut... Creamy, smooth, lovely balance and very tasty.

355ml bottle shared with Marcus in January 2015 from Old Town in Louisville. Poured into a shaker pint. Oil black with a big soapy tan head. Huge dark-roasted Indonesian coffee aromas with undertones of toasted oats, smoke and slight earthiness. Taste is more of the same with the roasted coffee again dominating. Slight vanilla and dark fruit tastes emerge as it comes to room temperature. Creamy mouthfeel and full-bodied with a dry bitter smoky finish.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured into a shaker showing oily black with dark copper translucent rims and half a finger of coffee colored foam.
The coffee does show but it’s a sideshow compared to the very dominant grassy aromas emanating from this beer.
The palate is full bodied, with extremely even carbonation, immediately showing the dark coffee flavors without any of the tartness, and a very elegant dark chocolate bitterness on the end. The coffee linger on the finish is very long. Actually very similar to drinking a nice black coffee. Delicious!

Completely opaque black, big foamy billowy tan head with good retention and very nice lace. Big coffee aromas dominate, with notes of roasted grain and dark fruit. pleasant sense of smoke as well. Lots of dark roasted coffee flavor, some dark fruit sweetness, earth and wood, and a gentle alcohol warmth. Mild hopping provides a balancing bitterness. Medium to full body, creamy mouthfeel, moderate carbonation and a lingering smokiness.

Poured a dark brown/ black colour with a small tan head. Aroma of sweet coffee and roasted malts. Taste is coffee, carmel, and roasted malts with a light bitterness. Very sweet and natural coffee elements in this medium bodied brew with a chewy/ smooth mouthfeel and a warm bitter finish.
