COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The satisfying elements of both stout and coffee come together in this full-bodied treat. A marriage of Sumatra's best with rich chocolate and roasted malt provides for a truly enlightening beer.

Opaque, dark brown. Small tan head. Dark roasted coffee beans, some bitter chocolate notes, some nuttiness. Bitter, some slight sweetness. Heavy body, alcohol is relatively present, slightly oily. Quite strong, not particularly balanced, still very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Brutally dark, no light even at the edges. The head doesnít go away. Looks like a cold pot of black coffee. Aroma is cold mocha coffee with a touch of hazelnut. Really does have the most burnt-coffee aroma that Iíve maybe ever had in a beer... but Iím not sure I personally love that. The taste has a sweet, nutty respite that isnít in the nose. Adds a rounded sweetness to what is otherwise a burnt affair. The feel is very slick; just slides down the old gullet with nary a swallow. Itís essentially a cold cup of coffee.

Aroma of coffee, I smell more Colombian than Sumatra, maybe its the chocolate. Taste is dark roast, alcohol, malts, chewy in nature, alcohol. I am torn on this one, could use barrel aging of some sort, I would hope oak or maybe a rye bourbon barrel. I do like it, but I think aging can accentuate the flavors. (I know they made an oak aged version, would have been nice to try).

12 oz bottled 7 months ago, purchased at Johnís Grocery ($3.49) and poured into a pint glass at home. Black appearance with a frothy, lasting light brown head, thick lacing. Aroma of strong coffee beans, dark chocolate and dark roasted malts. Similar flavor, adding a mild earthy bitterness and a touch of vanilla and caramel. Medium to full body, creamy and smooth with soft carbonation and a rich finish. Pretty damn good, Iíd love to try a fresh one.

Poured from 355mL bottle. Dark black with tan head. Aroma of very strong coffee/espresso beans with very subtle dark chocolate in the background. Taste of ash, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is much more balanced than the aroma. Light creamy texture. Medium full body.

Reviewed from notes. Rcvd in trade. The appearance was a pitch black body, half finger white head that quickly dies and has some light trickling around the sides of the glass. The smell had dark roasted coffee beans, super light chocolate. The taste had some bittersweetness and combined very well through the previously mentioned flavors, bitter aftertaste, dry finish. The palate was about a medium, fairly sessionable, smooth, ABV wasnít felt. Overall, I think this was a very well done for a coffee-forward American Stout.

Black pour with tiny tan head. Strong coffee nose. Clean roasted fruity coffee front. Light, carbonated body. Semidry mild finish It is dominated by coffee so no surprises.

Poured a dark chocolate brown. No head. Some carbonation. Unfortunately a poor aroma. Distinct ashtray odour. Wow, Kick in the teeth hit of coffee. Alcohol coming through. Slight bitterness on the finish. Not a fan.

Pours black with brown head. Strong coffee aroma. Taste characters of coffee, chocolate, and a little hint of cinnamon. Very good.
