COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The satisfying elements of both stout and coffee come together in this full-bodied treat. A marriage of Sumatra's best with rich chocolate and roasted malt provides for a truly enlightening beer.

bottle courtesy of nick76. pours an opaque black with a creamy tan head. aroma is full of coffee and bitter chocolate. the flavor is rich of roasted coffee, chocolate syrup, and hints of fruit. such a fine brew... if only Bells were distributed in Oregon.

Roasted coffee is the initial aroma. Espresso to be exact, its very nice. Also has notes of dark chocolate and malts with slightest hints of vanilla. Appearance is an interesting one...dark black with a dark tan brown head. It has carbonation bubbles on the sides, mostly on top and on the bottom. Flavor is espresso, roasted coffee, and slight hints of chocolate and caramel (roasted). Palate is extremely smooth and full bodied with aftertaste of a great espresso. This is a great beer, a great example of why I love Bell’s.

Most coffee stouts tend to have some of a coffee smell then a coffee taste this one does not follow that norm. On first smell I had to check to make sure I was not sitting in Starbucks. Smell is unreal of coffee kind of like a moca blend. Now on to the taste OMG unreal what a blend off coffee and roasted malt. The coffee is by far the leading favor in this beer. I would suggest you be a coffee drinker to take on this one. By far the best coffee stout I have had in years. 12 oz bottle 16 oz pint glass

First coffee infused beer for me. It pours pitch black with a nice, chocolaty head, though it dissipates quickly. Very strong and wonderful aroma of freshly roasted espresso beans, like a nice coffee house. Flavors are awesome. Full of chocolate, cream, and of course, strong brewed coffee (dark or espresso I’d say). Finishes full, like syrup, and bites like a dryer stout. Wonderful to cozy up with when its cold out.

12oz bottle poured into pint, great frothy head, aroma of burnt coffee, a bit sweet, taste is nice sweet coffee, not a lot of malty complexity but I’m loving the coffee. One of the nicest session stouts I’ve tried. Another great brew from Bells.

A nice robust coffee flavor with a smooth finish. This is quiet possibly the best coffee stout on the market.

Sweet malty caramel aroma. Pours a dark black with little to no head. Very malty, coffee taste with a choclaty caramel hint. Not overpoweringly strong. One of the top coffee stouts i have encountered.

UPDATED: MAR 2, 2012 Look no further if you are on the hunt for the right coffee/java related stout. Bell’s is almost always reliable and with this one (along with their Expedition) they have hit a home run in the stout field. I have yet to taste a coffee stout (and there are lots of them) that compare in potent taste to this one. The aroma of java is strong and the drink and aftertaste matches it tenfold, which is not true among most other of this kind. If you like stouts and you like coffee, then this is the one to try.

Wow. This beer is wonderful. It certainly lives up to its name. Very strong coffee flavor, and aroma. Full bodied, good stuff.
