COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The satisfying elements of both stout and coffee come together in this full-bodied treat. A marriage of Sumatra's best with rich chocolate and roasted malt provides for a truly enlightening beer.

Bottle from siciliano’s, batch 9363. Opaque black with creamy tan head. Aroma is fresh espresso, dry roast, chocolate, nice and stiff. Flavor is dry coffee and roasted malt that is very well blended, coffee in the finish is a little astringent but not overwhelmingly so, sort of like gun powder, a little tobacco, very nice. Creamy, well carbonated, full body. Very nice, way too many positive things about this beer for any of the negatives to shine through too much.

Pure black pour into tulip glass. Brown head, eighth inch tall. Acidic and deep coffee aroma. Taste is sweet initially with a lot of coffee flavor. This tastes like cold coffee, in the best possible way. Sweet coffee bean after taste.

35,5 cl bottle @ home. Rated on 30.09.2011
Aroma has some roasted malt and coffee. Flavour is fulfilled with coffee, but also some dark chocolate and hints of licorice pops up. A bit different coffee beer, maybe because I am not used to Java? Good stuff anyway and almost a 4.0 from me.

A real kick in the teeth! Nice upfront crisp palate. Long finish. Sweet, and with deep rich cocoa and coffee tones. Light carbonation.

Originally reviewed: 12/14/09. Bottle poured into my pint glass. Pours a very dark brown with some light ruby on the edges. No head at all with an aggressive pour. No lace, obviously. Scents of ground coffee, roasted malts, and slight leather. Full-bodied beer here. Slight chewy feel. Moderate amount of carbonation. Flavors of coffee, cocoa, coffee, roasted flavors, and more coffee. This is the most coffee-forward beer I’ve ever had. If you are into that sorta thing, this is the beer for you. I liked it.

Bottle, from trade with SecretSanta. It pours a very dark reddish brown body and a dense, finger-thick tan head. The aroma sure is java-ish, with roasted malts and something reminiscent of Islay peat. Loads of coffee in the flavor, with a smoked peat hint in the back. Full-bodied and smooth, finishing with java and roasted malts lasting for a long time. Although not a coffee drinker, this was a beer I really loved. 110930

Pours a black in appearance with a thinner dark beige head. Aroma is very heavy coffee and roasty. Creamy and smooth upon drinking, with a bit of carbonation. Taste is smoky and roasted. Extremely strong flavor of coffee both immediate and in the aftertaste. I can find a bit of chocolate as well. This has everything that I enjoy in a beer. Given the opportunity, I won’t pass this up.
