The satisfying elements of both stout and coffee come together in this full-bodied treat. A marriage of Sumatra's best with rich chocolate and roasted malt provides for a truly enlightening beer.

Pours black, with a relatively thin, moderate brown head. Head is a bit frothy, but with little in the way of retention--dissipates quickly. Aroma is absolutely dominated by coffee, with a somewhat sour character. Some chocolate malts are detectable, but they’re definitely in the background. Taste is of coffee with a mainly tart, sweet-and-sour character. Some fruitiness, too--like cherries. Not much in the way of burnt malts, almost porter-like. Mouthfeel is a bit on the thin-side, but I wouldn’t say watery. Lively carbonation, but the effervescence is not overpowering. In sum, this beer is somewhat uncharacteristic of many coffee stouts because of its almost porter-like presentation, but a very fine beer nonetheless. If you’re a coffee lover who is disappointed with that coffee stouts that privilege burnt malts, then give this one a try. A grower, but I like it a lot. Bears a lot in common with the Bell’s Cherry Stout (which I love), but with a coffee kick. Another fine showing for Bell’s.

I wish Bells brews were available somewhere closer to home and this one is a fine example why. Pours black with a thin, creamy head. Espresso and char aroma. Excellent coffee taste with chocolate and some caramel.

12oz bottle pours a black color with a bit of head. Lots of coffee but not too bitter. Smooth. But still, too much coffee for my liking.

12 ounce bottle. Pours an opaque black color topped by a small dense creamy tan head. Aroma is rich with notes of roasted malt, charred wood and dark coffee. First sip yields a bittersweet roasted malt flavor that has lot’s of coffee flavor. Slightly smoky and intensely bitter. Resiny hops are certainly there as well. A huge stout full of flavor, yet very drinkable. The finish is chewy and bitter with more smokiness. Outstanding.

Somehow this has eluded me for a few years of looking. Thick black pour with khaki head. Lots of fresh coffee aroma. Tastes like a nice coldbrew with a light vanilla and and caramel. Love this stuff

UPDATED: JAN 4, 2015 pours blacker than motor oil almost like a syrup...no head...nose is coffee dominant...flavor is good but only if u r a black coffee person....some may be put off by this ones coffee like qualities.... personally i think it would be better for breakfast and a nap..

Has a nice strong coffee flavor and looks dark as night in the glass. Another excellent Bells.

Pours dark, dark brown, hardly any head or lacing. Rich aromas of roasted coffee beans, oak, and dark fruit. Slightly creamy. Hints of chocolate, sweet malts, coffee. Wonderful stout!

Pours a very dark brown with tan head. Coffee, espresso, raw dark cocoa, and roasted malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a nice lightly sweet chocolate and coffee note.

UPDATED: DEC 31, 2014 Pours a very dark coffee color, with a small head. Smells of roasted malt and coffee. Has a nice roasted malt flavor, good amount of coffee flavor and some dark chocolate. An enjoyable beer. Had from a bottle

Bottle. Dark brown pour with a thin beige head. Aroma and taste are rich coffee, dark roasted malt and chocolate. Nice.
