Commercial Description:
The satisfying elements of both stout and coffee come together in this full-bodied treat. A marriage of Sumatra's best with rich chocolate and roasted malt provides for a truly enlightening beer.

Aroma of coffee, ash, dust. Appears an opaque black color with a small deep mahogany head that dissipates. Flavor is complex - sweet chocolate elements combine with a mocha tang, all finishing with an excellent fresh brewed coffee flavor. Palate is medium-thick and creamy, and it certainly helps enhance the coffee aftertaste. Overall, an interesting brew. My thanks to joeybgood for this fine sample.

Bottle (note: bottled on Feb. 08, so almost a year old). Pours opaque black without a hint of light making it through, with a fluffy brown head that recedes quickly. Nose is interesting - there’s a clean dark fruity/cocoa sweetness, alongside light espresso. Taste is surprisingly sweet - sweet chocolate alongside a light espresso character. Chocolate covered espresso beans. Finish is light, delicate espresso with some notable dark chocolate, consistent with taste and aroma. Mouthfeel is nice, lively but but light carbonation, slightly fluffy mouthfeel. Very drinkable and tasty cross between a milk stout and a coffee stout.

12oz bottle from Mr. Dunderbaks (Tampa, FL). Pours a pitch black color with a massive two finger tan, creamy head that settles slowly and heavily laces the glass. Aroma is malty and sweet with heavy notes of coffee and dark chocolate, dark ripe friut, raisins, roasted notes. Flavor is roasted and malty with notes of sweet chocolate, fresh coffee, prunes, molasses, and hints f caramel and toffee. Generally medium to full body with a slightly bitter chocolate and coffee finish.

Pours black with light brown head. Aromas of burnt malts and coffee. Slightly bitter roasted malt flavor with chocolate and coffee. Full body with moderate carbonation and a slick, oily mouthfeel. Another well done stout from Bells.

330 mL. Pours a deep brown almost black with a thin, yellowish head that sticks around for awhile. Good lacing. Aroma is saltwater with some capers and green olives overpowering the coffee and chocolate notes. Taste is very salty with lots of capers, motel coffee grounds, and bittersweet chocolate. As this beer warms it gets less salty and more like coffee. 7.5% is nicely hidden.

12oz bottle (batch 7706) given to me from a trade awhile back...pours close to black pour with a thin light brown head.... mostly assertive dark roasted coffee aroma, chocolate and little of much anything else... flavors characteristically follow suit. strong chocolate, coffee, and roasted malts mostly that come off as primarily sweet. slight bitter roast in the finish. decent coffee stout with a sweeter finish... 8/3/7/4/15
