Commercial Description:
This is a full-bodied stout with plenty of roast flavor as well as hints of molasses and chocolate. Ridiculous amounts of black and caramel malts make this stout smooth, creamy, and utterly opaque.

Pours an opaque black with a good bit of light brown-tan head and an aroma of matled chocolate. Flavor starts as dark-roasted coffee and finishes chocolatey with a hint of the licorice mentioned on the label. Mouthfeel is smooth, not slick at all. Alcohol content is low and well-hidden. It may be blasphemy, but I think this is a better beer than Expedition Stout!

12 oz. bottle from Grape & Gourmet (Batch 8927, bottled January 8, 2009). Black pour with a creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Wonderful flavor of bittersweet chocolate and dark roasted coffee. Very sessionable at only 6% alcohol. This has a lot of flavor for a non-imperial stout; hard to imagine finding a stout that is much better.

Another Bell’s brew, courtesy of my Philly kinfolk. This label has a drawing of an old guy on it, and he has me wondering if this could be up to the level of their supreme Expedition Stout. Dark pour and noisy tan head. Aroma of coffee grounds and yeast. This is a dry, hoppy stout that is medium bodied and flavorful. A fine brew that may not be worthy of an expedition, but is well worth drinking if you see it.

bottle poured a dark chestnut brown in color with a dark tan head that took some vigor to produce. aroma of coffee, chocolate, and light roast. mouth feel is creamy with a nice coating and low carbonation. flavor has a nice malted chocolate, coffee, and licorice. comes of rich but the flavors are not overdone and the sweetness is right.

12oz bottle. Black pour with a big light brown head. Malty chocolate aroma with coffee and licorice. Chocolate flavor with a licorice and molasses influence and a bitter coffee finish. World class.

A very rich, creamy stout with hints of coffee and very dark roasted malts. Very heavy on the tongue leaving you with the impression you are drinking a cream just like a good strong stout should be.

very good beer that has a rich aroma and it great to the taste. A bit strong for people who are used to lower alc content such as bud or miller. but if you enjoy your beer with a rich malt flavor, this is your beer. Get it in Kalamazoo MI.

Lots of dark fruit in this one, specifically raisins, in addition to the lovely roasty notes that you usually get from a stout. Man, I wish I lived somewhere that Bells distributed...
