4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz bottle. Tasted at 53 degrees. The color is black, ink black. Nice light brown head that subsides after a minute or two, but leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is bittersweet choclate/cofee with a bit of tart berry/fruit hiding uder the surface. The taste is multilayered, with the roast/coffee/woodsy flavor going to a sweetish/citrus rind flavor then a long lasting sweetish/roast finish. There seems to be alot going on. The mouth feel is great. It coats my entire mouth and feels "thick" in the mouth. This is one of the best non-imperial stouts I have ever had.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle, no BBD. Black beer, brown head, opaque. Big roasty, chocolate, coffee aroma. Medium body, finishes with bitterness mostly from the malts I think. Lovely malty beer. Simply one of the best "regular" stouts Iíve had.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz. bottle: This pours an inky, dark brown color. There was very little brown head to this one. The aroma is raosted coffee, with some sweetness also. Possible chocolate and caramel. The taste is quite rich. It is silky, sweet, and has roasted coffee, chocolate. Full bodied. Extremely nice!

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sweet yet roasty coffee aroma with strong notes of citrus-orange hops. Opaque dark brown body topped with dense, lasting, small-bubbled, dark brown head that coats the glass a bit. Malty sweetness and orange-resin hops in the flavour with a pervasively intense roastiness from sart to finish. Thick, luxurious, velvet-like, creamy, smooth mouthfeel and lusciously full-bodied. Bottle. Thanks, Silphium!

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: DEC 1, 2004 This is some deep dark stout. Holding it up to a light...still looks jet black. Dark carmel head. Not much of it, but what there is lingers in a nice lacy ring around the rim. Smooth dark roast and coffee aroma. Hints of port, leather, and cinnamon. Body is wonderfully chewy and mouthfilling, coating the pallette with goodness. Lingering, oh so smooth finish. Flavors of dark roast toffee, carmel, chocolate, coffee, all playing off of each other in careful balance. Complex, wonderful stuff.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tons of carmel and chocolate. Nice black body, with a thin mocha head. Taste has coffee that strengthens, hops, slightly nutty with toffee. Not as rich/sweet as I expected, but a very nice brew.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Dark black coffee body with a thick beige head. Nose is all roasted malts. Thick roasted/coffee flavors. Very nice and drinkable. Perfect amount of bitterness. Very, very well done and deserving of such a high average.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours black with a decent tan head. Semi-strong coffee aroma. Mild coffee flavor in the middle. Long coffee aftertaste. Drank three of these. One with dinner was much better than other two. Overall was decent but I am not a coffee fan.
