This is a full-bodied stout with plenty of roast flavor as well as hints of molasses and chocolate. Ridiculous amounts of black and caramel malts make this stout smooth, creamy, and utterly opaque.

UPDATED: JUN 8, 2007 I was starting to wonder if I even liked Stouts anymore. Either bored to death by Guinness or tortured by Imperial Stouts that try too hard but end up offering out-of-balanced, overly hopped, sticky goo (i.e. Bells 7000). I know that many people rave about stouts that are completely over the top on this site, but, personally, they end up being more work then their worth. K-stout is almost perfect (for a stout). Tan head. Delicious sniff of coffee and roasted malt. Creamy, just a touch of flower like hops balance out a great tasting maltyness. My faith in stouts have been restored.

UPDATED: FEB 22, 2006 12oz bottle. Packaged on June 21st, 2005. An amazing stout. It’s borderline ’imperial’. Bells never seems to dissapoint. Aromas dark chocolates, slight coffee. Taste is the same. Very creamy smooth. Dark as night with a beautiful tan head lacing that glass. As far as the style goes, it’s one of the best. Two thumbs up, and one bottle down.

Roasted coffee and chocolate with hints of molasses and burnt brown sugar...very, very smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Another great stout by Bells.

Deep black color with big dark brown head that dissipates to leave a hint of lacing. Aroma is subtle, with roasted malt backbone with hints of vanilla and cream, and a slight saltyness reminiscent of soy sauce. Flavor is roasty, smooth, creamy, slightly acidic, with a subtle interplay of sweetness and faint bitterness in the finish. A very nice stout, smooth, subtle, slightly sweet.

12 oz. bottle. Wow. How I’d forgotten just what a great stout this is. Gotten hung up on imperial this or oaked that. This is a rich, dense, easy-drinking, inexpensive brew that will have a nice home this winter in ma belly. Rich, roasted malt with a great balance of hops really make this one of the best examples of a style. Deep flavors of mocha with a slight sweetness. Body is there but not over the top. Finish is near perfect and leave one wanting more.

12z bottle. Opaque hue with great finger width of tan head. Deep chocolate notes in the nose. Also a nice coffee and toffee, slight sugary raisins aroma. Full in the mouth and delicious! Great roasted coffee flavor, with bitter chocolate and a creamy mouthfeel. Mild hop nose and flavor. This is an absolutely wonderful brew! Rich and creamy, sweet and bitter, dark and full! Quite possibly the best brewery in the country.

(draft) Oh, Bell’s Kalamzoo Stout, where have you been all my life? This is as close to the perfect stout as I’ve ever had. All of the flavor of an imperial, but without the high ABV and without the alcohol burn. My new favorite stout in the entire world. Yummy.

UPDATED: DEC 9, 2005 Great mix of chocolate and sugars(molasses). Nice and creamy. Smooooooth. Far and away the best tasting stout I have had. Like Expedition, but without the alcohol burn. Almost perfect in all areas. If it were perfect, I’d have to stop trying new beers....
