COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a full-bodied stout with plenty of roast flavor as well as hints of molasses and chocolate. Ridiculous amounts of black and caramel malts make this stout smooth, creamy, and utterly opaque.

This beer definitly has a coffee aroma but not the freeze dried garbage but some fancy coffee that I never actually drank. Pours with little head. First sip goes down easy but leaves a little bit of bitterness. Complex flavors: you can come up with the adjectives but its good stuff.

Opaque black with a medium head. coffee aroma and roasted malts. Creamy chocolatey start, some coffee too. Buttery. End has a nice hoppy bitterness to bring you back. Very solid brew.

Roasty, malty, coffee aroma. Frothy tan head, opaque black, gorgeous lacing. Roasty, malty, and sweet. A very nice stout. A little thin.

Completely opaque black body topped by a large creamy tan head. Quite the sight. Roasted choco-coffe aroma, not too sweet as some of this style tend to be. The flavor is sweet malt up front that is then quickly replaced by a good amount of roasted bitterness. The coffe flavors linger while the choclate flavors are muchmore short lived. The bosy is silky smooth and fairly large. The body is almost slimy but aviods being unpleasant. Overall a great effort from a great brewer. Thaks to both BB63 and Indra for sending bottles my way.

rich cream is an attribute, and allows for darker harsher roasting.. Creamy head. There’s lot of malt, chocolate malt, and hops. Some expresso coffee but not overpowering. Some anise and other oils. Before dinner, after dinner.

Thanks to Nexxus for this one. Pours black with a huge tan head. Aroma of malt, coffee, fruit. Tastes malty, with some fruit, coffee, chocolate, and cognac. Great smooth finish. One of the better stouts I’ve ever had.

Nice dark brown color, small tan head that faded quickly but left a small amount of lace behind.Nice roasty aroma with a decent chocolate and mild coffee showing up,mild sweet side coming through,as well as some caramel.Very nice mild flavor of malt and chocolate with maybe a slight smokey side coming through. The brew starts off mildly sweet and turns a little sweeter in the middle.Very nice brew and easy to drink taboot.Mor then worthwhile having a few more around for later.

It pours opaque black with a very generous, long-lasting sticky tan head in my fin du monde glass (great with stouts I find). Aroma displays very creamy malt, I could have believed this was a milk stout. Roasted chocolate and burnt coffee grains complement the sweetness. Very round and full mouthfeel, creamy. Particularly low carbonation. Alcohol hint accompanies the restrained bitterness in the finish-> alcool which I thought should not be felt at all in a 6.5% beer with all that roasted malt. Once again, this stout got this milky aspect that I came to dislike when combined with an almost still mouthfeel. It feels, not unlike a wine, just dead in the mouth despite all the licorice, molasses, chocolatey flavors from the dark malts. Well done, but still severly overrated to my tastes and definitely nowhere near as complex as expedition. Smooth, yet ultimately close, but no cigar.

Great tasting Stout. Love the texture and value in the taste. Very poundable stout. Buzz was not reviewed due to contamination by Expedition and Purkuno’s Hammer.

UPDATED: MAY 25, 2004 Umm, I cannot, repeat, cannot see through this. There is a very minimal amount of ruby at the edges, beautiful tight brown head. Sweet-roasted aroma, some chocolate, coffee, a bit of hops. Very smooth, definite roasty quality in the taste, hops then coffee then back to hops. Some charcoal as well. Dry finish. In the mouth it is thick and silky. Definitely feel the alcohol in my chest, very pleasant. Glad I can get this easily!
