markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA Jan 16, 2009 Interesting and licoricey beer. Pours motor oil black with a thick dark head. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, licorice, and some spice. Immense licorice presence. Flavor is coffee, licorice, and a twinge of hops around the swallow. Lots of dark malt. Finish lingers licorice and some milkiness. Thick mouthfeel and decent carbonation. Complex beer. DMorrish (13), , Ohio, USA Jan 16, 2009 This is a good stout. Pours black. Aroma is nice...coffee/licorice. Not too much carbonation, which is good in my book. Overall not at the top of the list of favorite stouts, but I’ve had many, many that don’t come close to this. GJF (480), Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA Jan 16, 2009 Wonderful. PItch black with a rocky tan head. Rich aroma of coffee and tons of roasted and coffee flavors, creamy body with a dry finish. Dezzilu (211), Whitmore Lake, Michigan, USA Jan 14, 2009 Do the folks at Bell’s make a bad beer? This is awesome and is the closest thing to ’Murphy’s Irish Stout’ that I have ever tasted. A wonderful beer that is both full-bodied, but not too thick or overdone. My favorite style of beer and this is the reason why. Pour me another please. Cheers. rbrazell (57), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Jan 13, 2009 Pours black with small deep tannish head. Nose of sweet chocolate malt and coffee. Flavor of the same with hop bitterness through the finish. A very good stout. BeerBaby (62), , Tennessee, USA Jan 12, 2009 Dark, heady, full body with creamy, tannish head that leaves the glass coated in a fine lace when tipped. Chocolate and caramel flavors, mixed with espresso, that is sweet roasted flavor. hopheaven (83), Eureka, California, USA Jan 9, 2009 Updated: Apr 1, 2009A heavenly aroma of unadulterated stout bliss. Simply perfect. Chocolate, molasses and espresso-strength coffee. What else could you want? Full-bodied and chewy; creamy like a bowl of porridge. A hint of sweetness upfront, a trace of bitterness in back. A beer such as this truly could be a meal in itself, did it not have such a kick as well! It should be savored, yet I can’t help but suck it down... I love stouts, and this is the best. luttonm (275), Belgrade, Serbia Jan 8, 2009 12oz bottle. Pretty, deep pour with nice sheen and quickly dissipating off-white head. Nose is brilliant sweet malt, very reminisicent of the big Imps. Taste is much lighter and roasty, sweet touch and rather slick tasting. Very well done stout, probably the best ’pure’ non imp i’ve had. Worthy brother of the Expedition.
