GMCC2181 (846), Bear, Delaware, USA Sep 16, 2008 Bottle given to me by robert of stateline. Thanks roberto! Aroma of black licorice, alcohol chocolate and malts. Dark black in color, no head. Taste is burnt oak, vanilla, roasted malt, a hint of chocolate. Very smooth. I like the way it goes down. No trace of alcohol in the taste.Texture is perfect, not to thick or to light. Low carbonation. Overall good sout! BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Sep 16, 2008 After having been denied 2 years ago in my attempt to sucker on the dark chocolate teet of Bell’s Kalamazoo Stout due to late entry to a club that offered it up on tap in ol Dirtroit, I was shocked to see this suculant treasure had finally landed here in Jacksonville. Now with regular and easy access to the Two Hearted Ales, which remains on regular rotation, I, in Japanese anime style, jumped for joy at the new treat. It pours dark; there is no light. Those crazy physicists at CERN might want to take another look at to what happens to light once it is sucked thoroughly through a black hole. Taste is mocha, superbly balanced on the taste buds, with roasted malts dancing about heavily, offering a creamy comedown to a well rehearsed chocolate factory. Coffee notes play well and hypnotized the treated taste particles on my tongue, less anything acidic, no thanks starbucks. Oh and Arsenal is playing loverly football:) GO GUNNERS!; maugus4ever (121), Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA Sep 15, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a light brown head. Great aroma of roasted malts, caramel, coffee, and chocolate. Very roasty tasting stout with great balance. Definitely worth trying. donrajin (233), Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina, USA Sep 15, 2008 This is my favorite comercially available stout. It has everything a stout should have. Nice full body, tan head, and roastiness that fills the palate. This is a stout to be enjoyed year round. johnnyoski (160), Macomb, Michigan, USA Sep 14, 2008 12oz bottle: Dark brown pour with a foamy, light brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee and some faint cocoa. Heavy roasted coffee taste. Slight dry finish. A very nicely balanced stout. Ceebs25 (217), Naperville, Illinois, USA Sep 12, 2008 12 oz bottle. Very pleasing scent to this beer, roasted ground coffee beans and cream, and some almost amaretto nuttiness to it as well. Enjoyed the pour, very dark brown cream head and decent size, mostly goes away though, dark brown coffee color , about 2/3 opaque. Good amount of roasted coffee and nuts in the flavor (go figure), also some good strong caramel malt and an unimposing balancing hop, smooth, though a nice bite right in the middle, medium full body and a good linger. Just a very good, drinkable, balanced stout, hard to beat for the style.
