IDunno19 (78), Ames, Iowa, USA Jun 28, 2008 I’m glad I’m finally getting to try the upper echelon beers. Pours a dark, almost coffee like consistency with a deep caramel colored head. The aroma is of molasses and caramel and cocoa. The flavor is very full and has hints of coffee and caramel with a little bit of a smokey flavor. Absolutely phenomenal beer. kosko20 (302), Bemidji, Minnesota, USA Jun 28, 2008 I like this slightly better than Expedition Stout because it goes down a little smoother and flavor is easier on the palate. tedovertu (259), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Jun 27, 2008 Bottle, Bell’s brewery never lets me down. Large rocky head with excellent lacing. Extremely dark brown/black color. Aroma of molasses mixed with toasted coffee. Full bodied with a creamy texture. Average carbonation with a moderately sweet flavor that in a lightly bitter finish. The warmer it gets toward the end the better it tastes. An excellent brew from an excellent brewery. BeerBaron617 (306), Novi, Michigan, USA Jun 27, 2008 Well, leave it to Bell’s to make stout my 2nd favorite style. This is actually the third stout in a row that I have purchased. The first two were Expediton stout from Bell’s, and a few nights ago i tried the poet from New Holland, and Kalamazoo stout is right in the middle. I loved everything about this beer. lemasney (398), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Jun 26, 2008 ABV: 6 %

First Impression: A very impressive presence - a nice aroma, good head and rich flavor. Aroma is bitter, coffee, and roasty. Visuals are an inky black body topped with a tan head that is persistent and lacy. Taste is thick with espresso notes, licorice, and pepper. Palate is perhaps its downfall - a bit weak, with a medium finish. Second Impression - not anything close to a Yeti or a Shakespeare, but not a bad stout - far surpasses a Guinness. But for $4.50 a 12 oz bottle, I’d much rather have the Yeti.

Overall: 16 out of 20 pepperford (115), robbinsdale, Minnesota, USA Jun 25, 2008 this is what an american stout should be. black, thick, aromas of coffee, chocolate. sweet, yet enough espresso , bitterness and tobacco to bring it all together. my new "go to" stout aoa56 (18), zeeland, Michigan, USA Jun 25, 2008 A good stout. Pours very nice, with a nicely carbonated body. Flavorful nose, and a great bitter chocolate finish. jjuf1853 (467), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Jun 24, 2008 Bottle pours a pitch black color with a dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, tobacco, and molasses. Similar flavors, but also noticed some sweetness that reminded me of apples. Nice bitter finish. Couldn’t recognize the licorice mentioned on the label though. Oh well, still a very tasty stout.
