Commercial Description:
This is a full-bodied stout with plenty of roast flavor as well as hints of molasses and chocolate. Ridiculous amounts of black and caramel malts make this stout smooth, creamy, and utterly opaque.

12 oz. bottle. Pours opaque black with a medium tan head. Aroma is roasted malts and a bit of the black licorice mentioned on the label. Taste is simply solid roasted malts and coffee, and is very nice. I can see why it’s rated among the top few "regular" stouts. Excellent.

12 oz bottle, pours jet black with brown head, that mostly dissipated. Aroma of smoke and roasted coffee beans. Taste slightly bitter and coffee. Mouthfeel slightly creamy, but a bit more watery than I would expect, has some nice carbonation. A solid stout, though I’ve had better.

ok, first off I havent had a stout in years.....I used to be all about them but then lost intrest about 4 years ago.... ..I’ve stuck to IPA’s, APA’s and belgin strongs for the most part. But the other day I though lets get a good stout. A huge WOW.....Wonderful aroma, chocolate, coffee and slight alcohol. Jet black. And a wonderful flavor coffee, chocolate, cream and roased malt! Sooooooo good. I know theres better out there and I have had better stouts. But after such a long break from this kind of beer....it was breath of fresh air.

Bottle. Aroma very roasted malt (coffee-ish), maybe mild hops. Flavor more of the same. Good stuff, but wasn’t terribly interesting for me, and the body seemed a touch weak with all the roastiness circulating. Not as impressed as others have been with this brew, but still solid if you take away the weight of expectations.

Bottle. Pours black with a beautiful dark brown head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma and flavor strongly of coffee, some roast, and chocolate. The palate was a little thin despite the big flavors in the beer. Some sweet richness in the finish, but not enough. The palate gets weaker as you continue to drink. This is just a weaker version of Expedition. It is good, but I am shocked that it is the #3 stout, as I would rate many other stouts over it.

Thanks emacgee. Pours black with a nice tan head. Aroma is dominated by coffee with hints of vanilla. Taste is roasted coffee, with hints of licorice. Very smooth and creamy on the palate, with a very long sticky finish. Would drink again.

Bottle thanks to Hellbilly. Black with good sized dark tan head. Roasted aroma of powdered chocolate and mollases with a slight amount of hops . Taste is similar with a little licorice and then bitter hops at the end. The hops keep it interesting an uncloying. Medium body.

12 oz. bottle into a shaker. Oil pour with dirty tan head. Aroma of coffee, currants, and vanilla. Flavors are the same an include hints of molasses and malts 9 little to no hop action) - full flavored for non-imperial. Smooth on the palate with a medium to heavy body (not too thick, but, again, impressively full bodied for non-imperial). Overall: great beer worth trying, but wasn’t super unique; still, a very sturdy stout.
