| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 6, 2008 Bottle. Dark beer, with the slightest hint of a ruby ede, tan head, some lacing. Aroma is very malty, milk, coffee, caramel, chocolate. Flavor is similar, creamy, but roasty, nutty, caramel, and chocolate, coffee; I can even taste some molasses. Aftertaste is still roasty, with good bitterness from the roasted malts. I don’t taste the licorice, but that’s probably a good thing. MoDog (916), Griffith, Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 3, 2008 Poured from a 12oz bottle (Batch 8237) and served in an English pint glass. This stout poured an extremely dark brown with a one-finger thick head of dark tan foam that quickly settled down to a thin layer that lasted throughout the entire glass. A fair amount of spotty lacing was left behind. The aroma of the beer was made up of rich milk chocolate, freshly ground coffee, roasted malts, and a hint of dark fruit. The flavor consisted of cold coffee, bittersweet chocolate, a touch of burnt malt, and some mild molasses. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and creamy smooth with light carbonation. A really clean and flavorful stout. Kalamazoo Stout makes regular appearances in my fridge. mgoy (343), Oak Brook, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 2, 2008 Bells Kalamazoo Stout is a great light alternative to Bells Expediion Stout. Pitch black with a small tan head, the aroma is of coffee, licorice and some chocolate flavor. The flavor mimics the aroma and stays on your palate until you take the next sip.
If you have a free night, this is a great beer to relax with and share a six pack with a friend. It is harder to do the same with the Expedition Stout. pineypower (1090), Pine Barrens, New Jersey, USA

Sure wish I could get this stuff locally. This is a great stout. Pours deep black with brown highlights and a tan head. Lovely dry roasty flavor, just the right hints of sweetness to keep it from being chalky or ashy, mouthwatering baker’s chocolate, cappuccino, maby a trace of that licorice they mention. Very nice mouthfeel, incredibly drinkable at 6%.
Splendid, really splendid. matt7215 (956), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

Poured into a pint glass, quite black with a tan one-finger head. The foam leaves a bunch of thick lacing as it dwindles to a cap.
Aromas of chocolate graham cracker, sweet cream, and a hint of roastiness. Heavenly.
Flavor tones down the sweetness a bit, while upping the roasted character. Fudge at the very front of the palate, then a big roasted finish with some astringency. I would have liked more sweetness to balance out the roasted bitterness because it seems a little too harsh for a sweet stout.
The carbonation is a little high for a stout, but it remains pretty smooth, and the roastiness makes for a dry finish.
Overall this beer is a nice change of pace from all the RISs I’ve been drinking.
