Black body, coffee nose, small tan head. Mostly coffee flavors, dry, slightly bitter, very drinkable. hopslovin (180), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Oct 25, 2007 Batch 7837. Bottle. Dark pour with a sliver of light filtering through the edges. Thin tan head that vainishes into a slick of lace. Smells of chocolate and roasted malt. More chocolate on the initial taste. Some bitterness from the hops help even the big malt presence. Very nice mouthfeel, fullness that nicely entertains the palate. Finish...well imagine a fine piece of dark chocolate melting in ones mouth. Very nice. chicagodri (1021), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 23, 2007 Poured from a bottle that is roughly 10 months old. Pours darks and thick, not much head. Sweet aroma. Not the strongest flavor but very smooth. Good hints of coffee. Very solid stout. performula (147), Triangle Area, North Carolina, USA Oct 21, 2007 Dark chocolate scent and taste. Serious malt. This is a dryer more bitter Stout than usual. Not bad. Probably like this better than the Double Cream. JamesD (192), Centreville, Virginia, USA Oct 19, 2007 Pours black as mud with a sweet and candylike aroma. The flavor is robust and very coffee like, yet mild. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Oct 17, 2007 Bottle: Opaque pour with a thick bubbly tan head. Nose is full of roasted barley, black licorice, dark chocolate and a nice smoky hop suggestion. Flavor is robust dark malts, creamy dark chocolate malted ice cream richness, late licorice suggestions, and a strong, burnt salty bitter finish. This Stout has a great hop character to balance the massive body, making is extremely quaff-able. Perfect for sessions.
