cprochak (388), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 8, 2009 Bottle on 8/8/09. Pours jet black, bubbly mocha head that doesn’t stay long. Coffee in aroma that is dominated by sweet chocolate and caramel. Extremely well balanced stout. Nice sweetness, then a slow bitterness, then an amazing bitter coffee finish that lingers. AtlAggie (131), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Aug 7, 2009 Deep rich black, huge foamy brown head. Aroma roasted coffee, chocolate, soy sauce, caramel. Flavor slightly smoky, roast (almost burnt) chocolate, coffee, caramel, and a lingering tang of soy sauce. Decent stout. slipy120 (64), Michigan, USA Aug 6, 2009 This was an overall good Stout. Poured dark with a small brown head that was short lasting. Not quite as strong as some Stouts but was refreshingly tasty. The aroma was pleasant with undertones of coffee and roasted grains. A must try. Not the best Stout around but still delicious. ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Aug 5, 2009 batch #6007 bottle thanks to brentfeesh. i think this bottle was at least 5 years old because it was not popping up on website. poured black with a tan head that laced the glass. aroma of coffee, chocolate, and dark fruits. flavor was coffee, chocolate, dark fruit, and burnt roast. General66 (164), Streator, Illinois, USA Aug 1, 2009 12 ounce bottle enjoyed on a rainy summer day. Absolutely picture perfect pour. It came out a dark black color with a very nice 1.5 finger width tan head. The aroma is fairly bland for a stout. It consisted of roasted malt, faint coffee, and possibly some very subtle dark fruit notes. The taste also consisted of roasted malt and some coffee. It left a bit of a strange metallic aftertaste though. Finished with a nice bitter taste. Overall, a very good stout, but definitely not as good as Bells Expedition... beernovice39 (240), South Carolina, USA Jul 27, 2009 Tried this at a tasting at Wine World in NA. Bought some, went home and consumed more. Is it great? Yes. Best? No. But its a wonderful beer! Cavie (1317), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Jul 24, 2009 Bottle courtesy of ericandersnavy. Batch 6007. Solid black pour with a tangible head. Beautiful notes of coffee and chocolate. Some smoked notes as well like soft bacon. Meat remains on the flavor. Interesting taste. Finish retains a smoky feeling. Some amounts of bitter coffee. A good stout that aged for several years before we enjoyed it. AndreasJaeger (101), Helsingborg, Sweden Jul 23, 2009 Pours dark brown with tan head. Roasted malt chocolate sweet licorice. Taste roasted malt burnt bread herbs licorice dry sweet smooth. Exellent stout.
