COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This is a full-bodied stout with plenty of roast flavor as well as hints of molasses and chocolate. Ridiculous amounts of black and caramel malts make this stout smooth, creamy, and utterly opaque.

Super roasty yet smooth. I think that is what is the big standout of this beer for me. That and the sweet start that moves quickly to a bitter dark roasted flavor like a french roasted coffee. I actually bumped the aroma a point after giving a little time to warm up. I would suggest doing the same for both flavor and aroma purposes. This beer drinks better after it has had a couple minutes in the glass in my opinion. This is definitely one youll want to try if your a craft beer lover - it is a necessity if you are a stout drinker.

Pours black. Deep tan head with good retention. Smells of chocolate and mollasses. Taste of rich chocolate and coffee with a mollasses sweetness. Very nice beer! Thick on the palate very nice mouth feel. Lacing on the glass is lasting.

Roasty flavored and can taste a bit like chocolate. Very dark looking. Brewed with licorice and has a real smoothness to it.

Out of the bottle from the local liquor store...chocolaty and sweet, but smooth. Nice

Bottle from City Swiggers, New York, NY. A dark brown/black coloured pour with a healthy beige head on top. Rich, chocolate, malty, roasty aroma. Tastes incredibly smooth and rich, chocolate, malty, hint of coffee, slight sweetness. A gorgeous stout from Bells.

BOD 2/22/14. Pitch black pour with a very good head. Lacing and retention are also very good. Surprisingly light nose of chocolate and roast over a mineral note. Rich heavy medium body with a nice creamy texture. Below average carbonation with almost no effervescence on the finish. The flavor profile is balanced, but lacks the complexity found in world class stouts. It begins with chocolate, fades to roast and flows into a mild sweetness with a licorice note. Hops and roast create a slightly bitter middle with just a hint of coffee and NO dark fruit. The finish is slightly astringent.

Pours black with approx two fingers wide tan head. A bit more carbonation than expected. A bit oily feeling that lingers n the mouth. Has a bit of a burnt roast finish. Not getting a lot of chocolate out of it. Pretty decent stout. Nothing stands out as unique, but overall very solid.

"made with brewers licorice, and while no one flavoe dominates the others, that is the preeminant one. good roasted aroma with a hint of the licorice. full bodied, and actually comes across a lot stronger than 6% would have you beleive. id buy this if it were here, but for as highly ranked as it is, my expectations were sky high, so it was ever so slightly disapointing. a very good, but not quite great, stout. keep in mind Im judging off one 12 oz sample, though. Ill have to try again sometime. courtesy of a trade w/ bluesandbarbq."

12 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Williston. Appearance: finger dark brown-red color, dark brown color, light oily lacing. Aroma: roast, chocolate, heavy licorice, coffee, very hidden and faint floral. Palate: full body, soft creamy carbonation, creamy texture into oily finishing texture, super smooth, medium bitter finish. Taste: sweet chocolate and licorice, into more malty sweetness, almost molasses, and then into a coffee bitterness, with light touches of floral hoppiness. Overall, very complex, but so smooth you hardly notice even! The balance is phenomenal, the taste is great, the beer is great.
