| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 6, 2010 Bottle from Chevy Chase Wine & Liquors in DC. This is a black’un. Pretty damn dark with a two-finger tan head and decent lacing. Aroma is roast, anise, chocolate, and caramel. Flavor is caramel malt and roasted malt, bitter coffee, chocolate, molasses, and licorice. Fairly complex. A touch of rubbing alcohol at first, but this goes away as the beer warms so I don’t consider it a flaw. Smooth on the palate with medium-full body and some great lasting roast/bitterness. Overall this is a very good stout. gringo332 (253), Richardson, Texas, USA

Beautiful color, almost black with a decent off-white head.
Wonderful roast flavor well balanced with molasses.
Finishes really smooth.
Excellent. Highly recommend.ed hobbersr (420), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 2, 2010 Thanks to Savvy1982 for the share! Pours black with a nice tan head. The aroma is bursting with chocolate, vanilla, crackers and red fruit. The flavor has even more punch than the nose. Dark chocolate, coffee, graham crackers, vanilla, milk chocolate, and a nutty finish. Like the other world class stouts I’ve tried, it alternates from bitter to sweet. Pours almost black with a thin soapy looking tan head. Taste of cream and molasses, with some coffee notes later on. Initially sharp on the tongue, with some bitterness. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. Very enjoyable. awiseman01 (391), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA
