| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 11, 2005 This beer boasts an aroma resembling a creamy mocha java. This beer looks and sounds like motor oil when poured into the glass with the exception of the small almond colored head. A creamy rich taste of chocolate, coffee, toffee, malt, and mildly nutty that overwhelms the taste buds. That infusion of flavors fades leaving a sweet and mildly bitter taste lingering on the palate for minutes. This beer would defiantly satisfy the thirst of the Bolshevik philosopher on the label. This is a good beer to fill-in after the supply of Dark Lord has vanished. luckygirl (1221), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 22, 2006 Batch 7571. Beer is very dark brown, almost opaque. Head is initially large, beige, frothy, mostly diminishing.<P>
The aroma is soft, dessert-like alluring. Malty with mellow moderate roasted grain, sweet milk chocolate, light café au lait and toasted bread crust; Hoppy with a light note of resin/pine; Yeasty with a light-to-moderate note of dough; Miscellaneous moderate note of vanilla, trace of cola.<P>
The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with a long, building, moderately-to-heavily bitter, lightly acidic finish.<P>
The body is full, texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively.<P>Smooth, soft, plush and creamy. jthg (68), Austin, Texas, USA

I could taste all kinds of good stuff on my first sip. The aroma is nice but you can definatley smell the alcohol even though its not a very strong beer. Still very good stuff! illinismitty (1811), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Flavor is nutty, sweet, with subtle hints of coffee. Smooth but subtle bitter finish, but with some very slight notes of molasses. Very easy to drink, but still bold. Simply put, a great stout. No wonder this is a top 50. Birdiebeagle (820), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA

Has a lovely roasted chocolate and coffee aroma with nutty hints. I also got a touch of dough. A thick full bodied stout with a good amount of carbonation and a nice finish. Good aftertaste. This is a great stout with good flavors and a robust taste that lasts nicely. 505 (271), Echo Park, California, USA

Nice roasty aroma, some licorice and caramel. Flavor is complex, well balanced, some caramel, roastiness, no complaints. Medium to full bodied. Nice almost flawless beer. Definitely worth buying. Incredibly drinkable for a big stout. Flavors of sweet chocolate and hops dominate this beer with a bitter coffee finish. So smooth and creamy on the palate if you drink this beer warm. I love you Bells Brewery.
