aracauna (2262), Georgia, USA Sep 20, 2002 Beautiful pour. Deep black with dark tan head that looks almost sandy, but feels so creamy. It’s a roll call of dark malt flavors and aromas: caramel and chocolate being dominate, but with an undercurrent and finish of burnt bitterness. Low to no coffee, though. Incredible stout.
jeff789 (130), Pennsylvania, USA Jan 7, 2009 Pours jet black with a nice tan head and leaves very nice lacing... Not hugely aromatic, smells slightly of roasted malts, a bit sweet... Roasty for days with slight hints of bitter chocolate and a very subtle hint of coffee... The initial flavor blast subsides into an airy almost light finish with a bit of lingering roastiness... Medium to full bodied... pinkzambia (917), Boise, Idaho, USA Jan 6, 2009 Bottle: Dark, dark brown with a long lasting tan head. Malty and mild chocolate aroma. Sweet and malty flavors with a hint of dark chocolate bitterness and cardboard. Smooth feel and easy to drink. It’s hard not to judge it against the fine Imperial Stout - Expedition. But, if I pretend I have never tasted Expedition, I would think this is a solid stout. coyotehunter (99), , Michigan, USA Jan 5, 2009 Very good nose of coffee and chocolate..pours black with a brown head. good flavors of chocolate , roasted malt, molasses, brown sugar and hints of vanilla.
finishes somewhat sweet. Good stout andyhite (283), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Jan 4, 2009 12 oz bottle. pours thick with a creamy yet firm head. The aromas are complex: heavy roasted malts combined with dark espresso roast; also, thicker oatmeal like aromas hidden underneath the cacao bean. thick, also rich in flavor. brown sugar and molasses as well as baking chocolate and a smooth yet bitter coffee finish. this is a tasty ale. as it warms, the alcohol still is well hidden, but the heavier than expected carbonation is revealed. all in all, it’s a damn good stout...one i would gladly imbibe on draft. smith4498 (459), Miami, Florida, USA Jan 4, 2009 Pours black with light brown head. Burnt malt aroma. Burnt malt flavor with a hint of coffee. Full body with mild carbonation and a moderately bitter finish. Very nice.
