flatmatt (79), Northville, Michigan, USA May 21, 2008 Updated: May 27, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours opaque black with a medium tan head. Aroma is roasted malts and a bit of the black licorice mentioned on the label. Taste is simply solid roasted malts and coffee, and is very nice. I can see why it’s rated among the top few "regular" stouts. Excellent.
Tejas (602), Dallas, Texas, USA Sep 8, 2008 This was very good and creamy. Love that it’s only 6%. Just goes to show ya not everything has to be Imperial. jeffwilliams11 (257), hooterville, Michigan, USA Sep 7, 2008 pour is dark black with one finger an head. aroma is that of strong gas station coffee. taste is a lot of coffee and chocolate, some toffee and caramel. very good drinkable stout. Lubiere (3266), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Sep 6, 2008 A dark dark stout with a thin moka head, and big chunks at the bottom. A nice bitter chocolate malt, cream, light hops, figs, and dried fruits. In mouth, a good moka chocolate, cold coffee, roasted bitterness, a bit of burned notes. A good pleasing stout. Beer_Hawk (705), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Sep 5, 2008 Bottle; batch 7648. Pours black with a creamy tan head that settles to a light layer & ring and left behind good lacing. Aromas of milk chocolate, coffee, and a slight roast. The flavor is much the same but with the roast standing out much more. Full body, smooth, and a coffee and roast aftertaste. Very nice Stout!! mcmd (49), Louisville, Kentucky, USA Sep 5, 2008 Pours a dark brown with a half finger beige head. Smells are roasted malt, dark chocolate, toffee, caramel. Flavor is sweet roasted malt and hops up front with a burnt coffee and bitter dark chocolate finish. Seemed a little thin for a stout, almost the consistency of a porter. Great beer nonetheless.
