3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours a deep, dark brown--practically black. The best thing here is the frothy, billowy head, which is medium brown in color. Head lasts quite a while, to be replaced by some nice, heavy lacing. The aroma is a bit too restrained for a stout, but there are chocolate malts and more than a hint of licorice. Mouthfeel is surprisingly thin, almost watery, but it does not detract from the overall experience. Moderate carbonation. Taste is complex--licorice predominates, with chocolate malts following, and only a hint of alcohol. Roasted, but not burnt--unmistakably a stout, but much in common with a fine porter. In all, an exemplary stout.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
12oz bottle. 2/26/15 package date (5mths old). Appearance: Black, opaque, thick, creamy brown head.
Aroma: Roasty malt, dark cocoa, hint of vanilla
Taste: Starts with sweet rich maltiness, rich roast and coffee, and some dark cocoa. Moderately strong bitterness. Very smooth flavor considering the heavy roast.
Mouthfeel: Medium body and moderate carbonation.
Finish: Lingering bitterness and roast. Very dry.
Overall: Good American style stout. Roasted malt flavor is dominant, but smooth instead of harsh. Complimented by some sweet base malt and chocolate. Drinkable considering the richness and alcohol.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured black, certainly heavy, tan head and a bit of lacing on the glass. Aroma of coffee and roasted malts and some hints of chocolate. Taste is also coffee and some roasted malts and chocolate finish. Very good stout, quite enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
From a bottle. Pours very dark black/brown with a fizzy light tan head. Tastes like dark coffee, dark chocolate, toasted malt, light tobacco and light ash. Medium body and low carbonation. Smells like dark chocolate, ash, dark coffee, and roasted malt.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
330mL bottle from Beer Cartel. PKGD 2/27/15
Opaque black body, holds a small but firm dense tan head.
Nose not overly pungent, but certainly plenty to enjoy about it; dark chocolate, roast nut, burnt meatiness, licorice, rich caramels with earthy hop spice.
Lovely and smooth on the palate, low carbonation, tremendous sense of balance and length.
Excellent flavour - lots of roast/burnt nutty malt, deep toffee, bitter chocolate, touch of mid-roast coffee, with earthy hops lending an assertive but well tempered bitterness to the whole thing.
Class act overall!

I like this - nothing too exciting to look at and doesn’t give too much away on the nose. Taste is super balanced and just a really enjoyable beer. Roasted malts, coffee, vanilla, earthy bitterness. I dig.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Smells like a stout I guess. Mild hints of chocolate. Medium sharp carbonation. Extremely smooth. Not foamy or syrupy at all. Just the right silky smooth consistency. Pretty much the perfect example of a straight-up stout. It has those coffee, dark chocolate, and roasted nut tastes that you would expect without any of them being over-pronounced. Aftertaste is medium to long length and the same.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Opaque black as promised, with small mocha head. Very roasty aromas - charcoal, coffee beans and well toasted bread. The taste is masterfully balanced between sweet and roasty. Treacle, caramel, toast, then charred meat comes in which builds slowly to a dry ashy finish. Medium bodied and prickly acidity on the tongue. Very good stout.

Pours jet black with brown lasting head. Aroma of burnt sugar, molasses, and milk chocolate. Taste is chocolate, maple syrup and molasses. Thick mouthfeel. Great stout. Competes with imperial stouts at 6%. Very impressive!

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Opaque dark black., little head. Faint aroma, with a hint of anise seed. Thick, dark with notes of roasted coffee moving through to a hoppy, watery stage which then leaves the mouth clean and dry. Very well balanced.
