3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Light aromas dark malts, slight roast, slight coffee, toffee, coffee bean oils and chocolate. Appears black with a thin foam rim. Taste brings dark roast, dry earth, chocolate cocoa and coffee oils. Overall, for a stout, not too bad. Decent body.

Pours a solid black with a short brown head. The aroma is rich, with dark malt, toast, coffee, and dark chocolate. The flavor is rich malt and chocolate up front with a slight coffee middle and bitter, toasty finish over a heavy body.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Poured from a bottle showing big black and opaque with a long lasting finger of fluffy coffee colored foam.
The nose shows a lot of chocolate with notes of sweet licorice here and there.
The palate is mostly dry but with a very perceivable lactose/licorice sweetness that takes out a lot of the bitterness also. The licorice doesn’t seem to appear until at the very end and even so, very subtly. Dark licorice also appears throughout the background. Lacks the weight of most stouts and drinks closer to a porter but an extremely easy to drink stout. Great for spring or fall drinking.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home while visiting Jacksonville. Pours dark brown/black. Lovely coffee choc aroma with light grass. Medium body, light carbonation. Dry bitter coffee and choc, a hint of milk choc sweetness, woody dryness... I like the dry bitterness. Tasty enough.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle from Wegmans, West Seneca, NY. An inky black pour with a tawny gleam, and an almost non-existent tan head; rich earthy aroma with traces of coffee grounds and licorice; a milky texture with a soft and bitter taste with lots of burnt malts and molasses; and a dry, satisfying finish with some lingering biscuit. A very moreish stout.
