COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As refreshingly crisp as a morning swim in a Great Lake, this brew is crafted with Pils and Munich malts. The pronounced hop character of this golden lager sparks thoughts of sandy beaches and rocky islands.

Golden/ straw colored beer with big fastly diminishing head. Aroma is... interesting...(sorry), apple, sweet malt, with a little noble hop aroma. Thin carbonated body. Slight sweetness with nice bitterness. Easy to drink and better than most of the macros.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2007 Perhaps it was allergy season or that just the mention of lakes was enough to set off my hay fever, but I couldn’t smell a damn thing after pouring this beer to a nice ¾ inch head – a head that headed south the minute it arrived. This pilsner doesn’t seem to have the traits of a Bell’s offering. Light on color and character, this disappointing beer may only be enjoyed when the temperature on the lake tips ninety. Or maybe I just got a bottle recovered from the wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

12 oz bottle "Lager of the Lakes" label. Pours to a beautiful, bright, golden color, with a tall, white head that fades, and a good bit of carbonation. The nose on this beer is nice, with some good herbal and grassy hops, paired with some grainy, pale malt aromas. The palate is firm, with good pale and grainy malt flavor, on a very clean, round body. This beer finishes with more good crisp, pale and grainy malt flavor up front, then ends with some good herbal/grassy hop bitterness that balances. Very well done example of pilsner, that is very flavorful, yet dangerously drinkable. It could have used a touch more hop aromatics, but I found this beer to be very authentic, and impressive. Very food friendly, and a good session beer, you could pound this one by the liter.

I was hoping for a lot more from bells. clear yellow disappearing white head. aroma.... light yellow lager aroma....corn with a light touch of hops. flavor is balanced but just not very good. sweet toasted almost bready notes with a good dose of bitter hops. bitter dry finish. light body lively....kinda fizzy carbonation. its just not very good.

Good pilsner. Grassy and clean with as solid bitter backbone. Very well balanced.

Pale golden color, nice carbonation. Smells a little skunky, typical of any other pilsner I can think of. Taste also much of the same as any pilsner, a nice sweet finish, nice carbonation on the tonuge. Very easy to get this one down.

Bottle - Bells Lager. Clear golden body with a small white head. Sweet honey and sugar aroma. Sweet honey flavor with some dry graininess and a bit of grassy hops.

Pours clear light amber with a large head. Retention is good, and leaves spare lacing. Aroma of bitter grass hops and pale malt. Assertive taste for a pilsener; fruity (apricot?), sweet malts and an everpresent bitterness. Light body. Lively carbonation. Crisp finish.

Bell’s Lager Beer. Light yellow color with small white head, big bubbles and some lacing. Aroma was hoppy and a little sour. Flavor was nice, slight hop flavor and somewhat sweet.
