As refreshingly crisp as a morning swim in a Great Lake, this brew is crafted with Pils and Munich malts. The pronounced hop character of this golden lager sparks thoughts of sandy beaches and rocky islands.

Clear straw color with a fluffy white head. Decent lace. Pale malts, with just a hint of toastiness. Fresh nose, with citrus and mild fresh bread dough. First sip brings thoughts of a old style lager, not "Old Style", rather a more traditionally brewed lager. Pale malts, mix with sweet fresh bread and the mild yeast. Light hops flavors of mild herbs and citrus, a full backdrop of bitterness to quench any thoughts of this becoming thick, sweet and chewy. A very traditional czech pils.

Poured a golden yellow color, ok initial head, weak retention, average lacing. The aroma was Pacific Northwest hops, some floral and pine-like notes, American pale ale-like. The flavor was hoppy with some definite fruity esters (berries), rather un-lager like. Some graininess (the source of the fruity esters?) also underneath. Mouthfeel was dry and carbonated and light.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2007 Lager Of The Lakes- bottle, poured a white head that dissipated quickly, little lacing on the glass, aroma of some malt with malt sweetness, little hops in the nose, looked light to medium gold, taste of some malts with light to medium hop bitterness, semi-dry on the finish, light in the mouth.

12oz bottle labeled Bell’s Lager Beer. Aroma: Light spiciness. Assertive grassiness. Fresh grains and bread. Slight citrus. Appearance: Golden in color and very clear. Head was bright white and fluffy with great retention. Nice lacing. Flavor: Grains and light breadiness really jumps out first. Some sweetness reminiscient of light honey on the tail end of the grain. A little light apple and nice grassiness into the finish. Refreshing bitterness scrubs the palate well. Palate: Light bodied. Medium-high carbonation. Overall: A good, easy drinking beer. Refreshing. A good beer for your non-craft beer drinking friends to turn them onto good beer.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2007 Original rating 10/29/2006 (525312). Light rotting corn ester and fusel destruction in the aroma. The malt is stinky. A light waft of hop field grass blows in from over the hill. Pours a crystalline clear pale yellow. Very thin rim of head. Flavor is a more piquantly hopped version of the aroma, a biting terse grassy overtone plays over all the off corn sugar flavors. The malt disagrees with my tongue in more than one way. It’s not possibly skunked, as it’s fresh off the delivery truck. There’s a light edge of creaminess to the grain sugars, but mostly a fusely off-note. Some light sweet orange rises from the hop smack in the backend. This beer is a sellout. Not even a good pilsener. RERATE: On tap, a totally different animal. Pour the same, and aroma a clean crisp sweet malt wafting up, lightly lemony. Flavor is a bright, crisp sweet lemon and apple sugar, over a grain bin and some long salty oats. There’s a decent richness, yet heavy drinkability. Not much complexity or character, but phenomenal quenching and drnkability. Ends with a nicely parching balance of crisp lemongrass hop bite. Very nice on tap.

Very light yellow. Fomy head with some visual carbonation. Very plain but appealing. A stray grassy taste but very drinkable.

I’ll have to agree with JK on this one, felt like a pale lager more so than it did a pilsner. The taste was very nice, fairly sweet with a good ending of bitterness. The palate was perfect and the flavours well balanced. For what it is, it’s great.

I thought it was more of a high quality pale lager rather than a pils. It does have some light hops and fair palate, but I didn’t get any of the Bohemian character I expected from the description.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2006 Pours light yellow and sparkling with and fizzy white head. Aroma is moderatly malty of straw, with leathery yeast phenols. Flavor is moderatly sweet and lightly bitter, a good balance, with a short but more bitter finish . Light to medium bodied watery and creamy with lively carbonation. Smooth and refreshing nice balance or character.

bottle, labeled Lager Beer. Great beer. Way better than I expected. Smooth mouthfeel, sweet and light flavor but very tasty! Strong buttery notes. Nice bitter aftertaste, medium white head that holds throughout. Aroma is of fruits and a bit grassy maybe...
