COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Nicely balanced, Bell’s Lager Beer focuses on the flavors developed in the brew house, matching a crisp bitterness & distinctive herbal hop aromas to a simple yet firm malt backbone. Following in the tradition of Bohemian-style pilsners, this beer spends a full six weeks maturing in the fermentation vessels. This extended conditioning period refines the overall flavor, highlighting the contributions of the malts & hops.

Bottle: Clear gold in color with a white head. Aroma of corn syrup, grassy hops, and some yeast. Flavor, yeasty, some corn, grassy hops. Light bodied, crisp finish.

Pours pale yellow with a fizzy white head. Aroma has smooth pale malt - fairly creamy with a hint of spice. Medium / thin body with soft, yet fizzy carbonation. Starts with grainy pale malt with a bit of sourness. The finish brings a good helping of Saaz hops. Starts fairly full tasting and ends crisp and refreshing. Not a groundbreaking beer, but very enjoyable and refreshing.

Golden color. Smell of malt, hops, skunk and rubber. Taste of malt, hops, lemon, hints of spice and a rubber band bitter aftertaste. It tastes like the dust/powder that is on a ballon when you start blowing it up.

Clear golden tone, fuzzy white head. Nice lager look. Nose is slightly sweet and malty, thoroughly clean, minutely hoppy, light hints of apple and pear. Pleasant enough. Taste: clean again, sheer and sure, gleans off the palate once upon entering it. In and out, refreshment. A small scale scintillating delight. Nothing to take offense at, and just enough flavor to keep the tastebuds happy. Crisp, dry malt base, tidy hops, solid execution. Light body, long, if clean and rudimentary finish, meager texture. Crackling cereal malt, nearly sweet, but solid, very solid. I mean not to pan with faint praise. It’s quite a fine lager. Problem is, I’m just not moved by them, no mater how good they are...though this hits it, and I really hope they have success with it. Certainly would be my choice if a gun were cocked and set next to my temples and I was told I had to drink a lager.

Bottle. Pours a clear, straw with a medium sized, white, creamy head. The aroma is bread, grassy saaz hops and lemon. The flavor is herbal, lightly sweet bready malts, grass and a touch soapy. Medium/light body, never thin, but still light and very crisp.

Bottle, "Lager of the Lakes". Crystal clear golden color with a thin head. A little bit of a spicy aroma. I’d guess it’s yeast related. Bone dry taste with a grainy aftertaste. Not full of flavor, but good and simple.

"Lager of the Lakes" - bottle. Clear and thin-looking golden straw color. Head is minimal at best. Aromas are of dough and malt. Flavor is quite remarkable for a pils. Very spicy and crisp and has a lot of direction to it rather than just being another bland lager mass market crap beer. I’m not sure I can do it a just description, but here goes: flavors start off very spicy... almost a peppery note to it all (like white pepper) with a touch of fennel. Then the malt takes over and transitions towards a hoppy bite at then end that balances very nicely with the rest of the palate. After the pour and the aroma I thought I was doomed, but this is a really fine drink.

Clear yellow with a big white head. Aroma of corn malt and a little hops. Malty flavor. Finishes with some hop bitterness. Drinkable.

Had this one bottled from the Binny’s Oktoberfest beertasting in St. Charles, Illinois, called "Lager of the Lakes". Very quaffable, if uninteresting. Pretty good.

UPDATED: SEP 8, 2007 Clear straw pour with a citrusy yeast and hop aroma. Flavor is grainy cornmeal, lightly bitter with dry spice, owing to Saaz i suppose. Just a vastly drinkable beer.
