Nicely balanced, Bell’s Lager Beer focuses on the flavors developed in the brew house, matching a crisp bitterness & distinctive herbal hop aromas to a simple yet firm malt backbone. Following in the tradition of Bohemian-style pilsners, this beer spends a full six weeks maturing in the fermentation vessels. This extended conditioning period refines the overall flavor, highlighting the contributions of the malts & hops.

Smells like a good lager. Pilsner malt, herbal/floral hops in the nose. Pours a translucent pale gold with an ephemeral head. No lacing. Palate is light and crisp, with crackery malts and a light but lingering hop bite in the finish. Unexciting perhaps, but accessible, tasty, and cohesive. No off flavors. A well done lager.

Pours a clear golden yellow on tap with thin white head that dissipates to leave good lace. Aroma of light malts and crisp yeast esters. Taste follows, clean and easy, a hint of earthy hops. Light and simple, what you expect.

Bottle. "The Lager of the Lake" version. Golden in color with a medium sized head. Aroma is straw, some grains. Taste is straw, grains with a weird bitter finish.

10/2/15. TGIF. 12oz bottle, sixer, from Five Points. How on earth had I never rated this? Nice clear golden pour with a nice, fluffy off-white head that sticks and laces plenty. I’m kind of surprised actually. Enjoyed from a nice footed Pilsner glass because I was feeling fancy, I guess. Anyway, good aroma, crisp, light grassy aspects, a hint of a corn touch, doughy. Good flavor, crisp, doughy, pale malts, grassy, light malt sweetness and a surprising hop bitterness lingers. This is good stuff and hitting the spot with some local pizza!

Pours a dull amber to straw color with a medium foamy white head. Some faint aroma of hops and grain. Fairly smooth with a citrus peel flavor that isn’t too harsh nor bitter but not really enjoyable. Overall it was kind of Blah.

Was looking forward to this as an offering from Bells but was curiously disappointed. A little salinity at the end is the only spark I get from this

Sampled on draft at Hou Thou this beer poured a vibrant golden color with a large fluffy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweetish with a hint of golden fruit. The flavor was tangy, sweetish and a bit bready with faint sour mash, grassy & perfumey hops and turned a bit dry and peppery towards the end. Medium length finish. Light body. Meh.

Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear golden pour with white head, aroma brought notes of bread, biscuit, yeast into some earth, spice, touch of grass. Taste was earthy, slight corn into grass, touch of bread, finishing slightly sweet, slightly bitter.
