COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As refreshingly crisp as a morning swim in a Great Lake, this brew is crafted with Pils and Munich malts. The pronounced hop character of this golden lager sparks thoughts of sandy beaches and rocky islands.

Bottle as "Lager of the Lakes": Poured golden and quite clear. Crisp and clean with a light Bohemian hoppiness and an almost fruity warmth to it. This is a very well made lager, an every day beer for more than every day people. (#3240, 12/9/2007)

Bottle from Stine. Thanks Eben. Pale gold color. Aroma of German malt and a touch of grassy hops. Not a ton of flavor, but a great strong hoppy crispness that accompanies the light bready pilsner malt. A fantastic thirt quencher and palate cleanser.

[2359-20090731] Bottle. Mild petrol leaves aroma has mild baby powder and chemical porta-potty hints. Clear, pale yellow body with a quick foamy white head. Solid woody yeast flavour. Light-medium body. Nice flavour balance but odd aroma.

Bottle. Translucent gold with a small but sturdy white head. Grassy hops, soft lemon, yeast and light grains comprise the aroma. Taste is lemony with grassy hops, grains and soft tea leaf flavors. The malt is not overly bready. Mild buttered biscuit. Body is medium with a moderate carbonation. Bubbly in spots. Dry towards the end. Ends with more grassy hops, lemon, soft yeast and grains. As it winds down there is a flavor of melon. Softer bread notes as well.

badgerben (4116) - Blaine, Minnesota, USA - DEC 4, 2006
Bottle, "Lager of the Lakes". Crystal clear golden color with a thin head. A little bit of a spicy aroma. I’d guess it’s yeast related. Bone dry taste with a grainy aftertaste. Not full of flavor, but good and simple.

Tap at Bells City TAP House event PBW10. Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a medium bubbly white head. Aroma of noble hops, nice bready, lightly sweet malt. Flavor of bready malt with a touch of toasted malt and noble hop spiciness.

Bottle: Lager of the Lakes. Pours a clear light yellow with a two-finger, fluffy white head. Aromas of Czech hops, lemongrass, sweet malt. Taste is similar- not too watery and very hoppy. Aftertaste is very dry and bitter like a good Czech pilsner.

A: The pour is a clear straw color with a short lived white head that’s about a finger and a half tall. S: Lots of toasted, almost burnt, grain and malt. Definitely some corn aroma, maybe a bit of grass and straw. Maybe a little bit of bread in there, too. T: Surprisingly bitter with a fair amount of pine, maybe a little bit of skunk. Corn, which provides some sweetness, and there’s a definite grainy character to it as well. Pretty simple flavor profile here. M: The body is light to medium with a moderate carbonation and a lingering bitterness and/or astringency. D: A pretty rare miss from Bells, at least in terms of their regular lineup.
