2.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 6/20 pdoyleusa (17) - Clinton Twp., Michigan, USA - NOV 30, 2004
As wih all bells beers, the aftertaste is key, no bitterness, only a slightly sour malt flavor tansverses the tongue. Not a faorite, this brew is far to ale-like in character to be a true lager, even though it is brewed in traditional lager style, with a bottom fermenting yeast. Has little redeeming quilities. Better off as a sort of curiousity....
"Bell’s Makes LAGER?!?!"
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 Sudennorthstar (17) - Michigan, USA - JUL 31, 2009
This beer was, for me, was a bit too hoppy. Perhaps I was expecting something else, but this beer was tough to finish. Normally, Bell’s brewery is spot-on but the flavor was sub par and although the finish was OK, it didn’t make up for the hard taste. Normally, I like pilsners a great deal, but this was a swing and miss.

Gold colour with a light malty aroma verry low bitterness and little or no
aftertaste
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 FlyFishingBob (14) - Clinton Township, Michigan, USA - AUG 4, 2008
From a keg kept at 37-39 degrees.
The beer is a deep golden color, not pale like Bud Lite, and crystal clear
A 1/2" head is present and only shrinks slightly.
Taste is creamy, cream being the best word to describe it’s texture as well. The hops are noticable, which is different for a beer that looks like this one does.
In all, a solid beer, but not very memorable.

Tasted at a Bell’s tasting. Light yellow in color. A good hoppy flavor. This would be a good session ale to enjoy on a boat.

Cloudy yellow appearance, aroma quite mild, taste mild as well with descent hop note. Drinkable lager.

Not bad, I think it is one of the better lagers made by the large-micro’s. It has a bit of hops, not much, pale color, better than Sam Adams IMO.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Hengest (10) - Troy, Michigan, USA - AUG 16, 2009
12 oz. "Lager of the Lakes" bottles from Bell’s batch code 9108. Light, crisp, mouthfeel but with an assertive, almost metallic, hop taste that stays on well into the aftertaste. Nothing like the flavor of Bell’s big ales, but a good session lager for hot weather. Somewhat more robust than Sierra Nevada’s Summerfest. Less sour than Pilsner Urquell, but without the latter’s characteristic softness on the palate.

12 oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams glass. Is clear light yellow straw color and the head disapates quickly.
Has a scent of spicy hops.
Has a bitter taste from the hops. Similar to the dortunder style if a little more maltier.
Nice beer for the warmer months and has more fullness than the color of the beer would suggest. I’m thinking grilled burgers, chicken, chops, steaks.
A decent beer overall but at $10.00 a six’r not sure it’s something I would consider a session beer.

Bottle! Secret Santa was great this year!
Pours a golden brown, full body taste, straight forward on the taste and exactly what a lager should be!
