Thanks so much Sean! Canít say Iíve had many funky Bellís beers...any? Regardless, this is excellent work. Light clean perfumy tropical fruit notes. What I appreciate about this is the soft restrained acidity and the dapper and dandy Brett characters. Too many American uses of Brett get footy and full of ethyl acetate. Cool, this stays away from that with punctual and sharp pepper and fruit notes. Warm and later on it gets a little goat-like, but on the whole I find this a singular and unique example of American wild brewing closer to the Belgian originals.

Draft. Gold pour, small white cap. Little retention/excellent lace. Aroma of Chardonnay, light brett/funk, oak. Taste is tart, lightly sour, light Chardonnay, mineral. Palate is soft, slick, a bit watery, tart finish.

Bottle from Sean - thanks! Glowing yellow pour with a quickly fading froth of white foam. Light, dry brett, oak, and a bit of white wine grapes in the aroma. Taste is dominated by the brett but there are some tart malt notes and some white wine grapes toward the finish. Clean, relatively dry mouthfeel. Classified as a sour/wild but itís not very sour . . . but itís a very nice, highly drinkable beer in itís own way with a clean presentation. Some aspects of the beer remind me of Brux albeit with less tartness. I like it.

Draft snifter at bells cafe. Clear golden pour. Aroma is Brett and wine. Taste is a slightly sour, very Bret heavy bee with a touch of the Chardonnay. Almost white wine like body. Decent stuff not sure why best in show at fobab.

Tap at FOBAB, nice bretty beer with some interesting character but really shocked that this won FOBAB.

Yellow pour, white head. Brett is string, lemony, leather, some light spice. A bit of the chard barrel is noticeable.

Sampled at FoBAB2013. Pours a hazed golden yellow with an offwhite head. Aroma of funk, cobwebs, some basement and wet wool aromas. Some fruit, apple, and pineapple, as well as some wet wood. Flavor is dry, with mild bread and straw sweetness. Touches of fruit in there as well. Spritzy mouthfeel. Finishes dry, lingers a bit. Well done, enjoyable.

On tap at FoBAB 2013 (Chicago, IL). Pours a mellow hazed golden straw hue, more pale with subtle haziness. Frothy offwhite head atop dies to a solid filmy layer, decent lacing and stick around. Aromas are gentle pineapple, estery pear and apple. Some bread, funk, wood and mellow vanilla. Touches of funk, cobwebs. Subtle but complex. Initial is dry and richjly brett driven, pineapple and cobwebs meet firm funk, basement, bread and straw. Raw grainy and straw dryness. Some firmer oak, vanilla, more pineapple juicy brett remants. Middle is dry, a bit fuzzy and cobwebs driven. Some nice dust, cobwebs, and mellow touches of yogurt. Backend is dry, bretty, and more mellow body as we hit the backend. Some straw, raw grain and gentle tartness. Rich brett presence is complex, offfers some real life. While this isnít my personal favorite I can personally see why it won best in show. Itís fairly complex but soft. Finish is dry, a bit fuzzy and oaky. Nice, but as far as itís own category really thought the Side Project Saison offered more.

Tap at fobab. This poured a hazy yellow color with a white head. Aroma was of hay, lemons and dust. Flavor was minerally, green apple skins, and lemonade. OK but donít see how this won best in show.
