Draft. Poured a clear dark brown color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted smoked malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Solid balanced toasted sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew.

On tap at the Shark Club in Howell, MI. Poured an amber color with a small sized off white head. Buttered popcorn - could not get past the popcorn aroma and tastes. Maybe some caramel and nuttiness. Between the drummer and piano I had with this tonight, this was a distant 3rd.

Served on draft at Maduro in Madison, WI at the GTMW pre-party. Pours a hazy dark amber with a large creamy head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of caramel, toffee, earthy notes, banana and a faint bit of smoke. The taste is toffee, spice, earth and smoke. Medium bodied. Quite nice.

I think this one is super fruity and sweet. I didn’t get as much of the roasted character.

On tap at Maduro. Poured cloudy medium amber with a short cap of khaki head. The aroma picked up warm fruit, molasses, and maple with touches of rye and vanilla around.. warm and welcoming. The flavor found molasses and drawn caramel with some chocolate laced throughout.. dry, earthy bitterness as well.. nice balance, but not greatly enjoyable. Medium-bodied and dry on the palate.. a tad grainy.. just OK feel and flow.

Draught at the Bell’s Eccentric Café, Kalamazoo, MI. 6.9%.
Dark copper colour with a small off-white head. Mild malt and sweetness in a very mild aroma. Sweet malt, mild hops and mild yeast in the flavour. It’s a bit unclear to me what this is supposed to be.

Sampled from the tap at the 2010 MBG Fall Fest. Poured a cloudy amber brown with yellow brown head that dissipated to the edges. Aroma had a nice light fruit note with some citrus and a bit of pine coming in. Flavor had some more pine with light grains, fruit and floral notes. There was also a strong presence of roasted/smoked malts. A complex, but well rounded beer.
