On tap at Bell’s Eccentric Cafe. Aroma is sweet grapes. Very pale yellow, and clear. Taste is pretty nice; sweet honey, with a dry finish. Hard to rate on the same scale as beer, but there you go.

Sample at the brewpub. Bell’s’ Mead is a clear pale yellow color with some tiny bubbles atop and decent legs. Nose of honey and flowers. Medium sticky body with a floral character and flavors of sweet honey and ripe fruit. The finish is sweet and fruity. Pretty average overall but perhaps I am spoiled by Kuhnhenn’s Meads.

Bottle thanks to womencantsail. Pours with a clear, pale, golden hued body with a fading white head and mild legs. Aromas are sweet one the nose, honey, mild floral notes and dusty. Flavors are dry and taste a bit oxidized, dry leaves, sulfur and honey. Light acid, but not really enough to balance. Medium bodied, somewhat dry finish despite the sweetness, low carbonation. Not particularly well made.

Thanks for the bottle, Derek! The pour is a pale yellow color with a little bit of carbonation to it (interesting). The nose is rather sweet with a definite grape soda aroma. There is a bit of honey to it as well as some sugar. The flavor is a bit like a grape soda mixed with an Otter Pop. Really quite sweet and sugary, though the light carbonation does help a little bit. A bit boozy, too, despite being on the lower end of alcohol for a mead.

750mL bottle at the Black Friday Tasting pours clear colorless water with hints of golden hues and a super slim near white head. The aroma is honey, crusty dry honey, a modest white wine like note and some chemicals at the end of the draw. The taste goes from rich honey sweetness to thin semi tart white wine notes. Ok mead I guess that’s on the thin chemical and sort of tart side.

Very decent mead, from the brewery. Some depth and complexity. Pleasant aroma. Some colour in the body.Decent drinkability for this version, at 10.5%

(750ml bottle courtesy of Rayl101 and shared at the Black Friday tasting. Thanks Kevin! #331/487). Pours a pale yellow with slight white head that rings the glass. Looks a bit like a chardonnay. Aroma is honey, flowers, and fruit. Taste is sweet with some citrus. Medium bodied with a slick texture. Smooth finish. Decent stuff.

Black Friday tasting and what the FUCK? Pours a yellowish color. Aroma of honey, medicine, hops. Flavor is just awful. Honey is overshadowed by medicinal notes, herbal weirdness and just plain yuck.

So excited to see the bottle listed on the list for the BF ’11 tasting. Sorely disappointed after tasting it. Aroma got my hopes up...abundant honey, spicy notes, floral qualities, and candied citrus. Inviting, actually. Flavor just didn’t match and was, in fact, quite chardonnay-forward. Winey character and very cider-like. Thin and uninviting. Pass.

Thanks to rayl101 for this one. Clear yellow pour with some rising bubbles and not much else. Honey and grain.... woot? Pretty mediocre. So many better meads out there than this one.
