On tap at Bells during our trip there during RBSG. Pours a clear yellow with a thin white head. Soft honey and apples on the nose. Sweet honey, very faint carbonation. Honey sweet with light fruit on a very light finish.

On tap at Eccentric Café. Decapitated crystal clear apple juice. Soapy aroma of honey, alcohol and mild spices. Semi-sweet taste of honey, light spices and alcohol.

draft at the brewpub - Pours clear yellow and has a mild honey aroma. It has a very sweet honey flavor that easily buries the alcohol. There’s a slight flowery accent. Enjoyable though more complexity and somewhat toned down sweetness might be better.

On tap at the eccentric cafe. First mead. a little odd as the aroma is almost nonexistent. Theres a mildly detectable honey and malt combo there with a cloudy coppery/red pour. Flavor is that of honey, bread and a funky metallic touch in there but the 9% is well hidden. Rather dry, with good carbonation. Different. Not sure what the Vikings saw in this.

On tap at the Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo, MI. Pours a crystal clear, straw yellow colored body with a thin, white head that dissipates quickly leaving only a trace of oily lacing. Aroma is a lighter amount of sweet honey and fairly fruity with some white wine and a very mild malt. Flavor is better. The honey is sweet and smooth, but very light. A good amount of fruity white wine and pear that dies before the finish. A bit of an herbal ending as this dries with a hint of alcohol that leaves a simple, medium length aftertaste of sweet honey and mild malts. Light body, quick, and clean with a very soft carbonation. Overall, a bit of a lighter, simpler tasting mead, but clean with a good amount of sweet honey and a pleasant fruitiness. Not bad.

On tap at the Eccentric Cafe in Kalamazoo. This the first mead I’ve rated, but have had enough of the style to feel comfortable rating at this point. Overall, this was a pretty basic mead that was highly drinkable but with nothing really special going on. Perhaps even the most drinkable 10 abv bit of alcohol I’ve ever had. As expected, zero head and an oily, crystal, hazy gold body. Aroma consists of a pleasant sweet honey with cream, and a light tart berry wafer. The palate is is crisp and clean, almost water with only a hint of kick behind it. Some very simple notes in the flavor as well. Honey of course, with light grain cookie, apples, and some other light juicy fruits. In the end, a nice, simple, easy drinking high abv drink.

Thanks for the bottle, Derek! The pour is a pale yellow color with a little bit of carbonation to it (interesting). The nose is rather sweet with a definite grape soda aroma. There is a bit of honey to it as well as some sugar. The flavor is a bit like a grape soda mixed with an Otter Pop. Really quite sweet and sugary, though the light carbonation does help a little bit. A bit boozy, too, despite being on the lower end of alcohol for a mead.

Golden clear. Very wine like overall and not very sweet. Light citrus, light floral notes. A bit dry. Decent but too much like a wine for my tastes.
