COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A refreshing, blond colored pale ale. Bell’s pale ale is made almost exclusively from pale malt. It expresses a spicy floral hop aroma and taste.

Pours golden-amber. Brilliant but with significant amounts of sediment, despite pouring with care. Yeasty film sediment left in the bottom of the bottle. Three-quarter inch , off-white, creamy head formed. The heads dissipated quicker than desired but retained 1/8 inch after a few minutes. Fresh malt and hop nose. Crisp palate and delicious modestly bitter lingering. Certainly moreish! Rather modest carbonation. Highly developed Belgian lace. A delicious ale!

DATE REVIEWED: August 24, 2014... GLASSWARE: Barley Creek pint... OCCASION: O’s avoiding a sweep? (NO)...APPEARANCE: fizzy, fuzzy, pocked white head sits atop a noticeably hazy orange-yellow head; lacing is tangible but random... AROMA: funky lemon grass and some resin; bready malts balance the aroma... PALATE:medium-bodied, reasonably lively, and balanced in its mouthfeel--certainly a pale ale... TASTE: a rather straight-forward pale, with enough malt and hop resin to be noticed; beyond that, a rather flat profile that whispers floral notes ...OVERALL: the dude from Pletcher’s suggested this was the weakest of the four casemates, and though this is true, its fourth-place finish is nothing to be ashamed of; a sessionable pale ale that would compliment a variety of foods, seasons or settings...

Transfer from BA review on 2-12--13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – The beer is served a hazy orange color with a one finger white head. The head fades relatively quickly leaving a moderate level of lacing on the sides of the glass. Smell- The aroma is heaviest of an earthy and citrus hops along with a nice bready base. Along with these aromas are some lighter notes of tropical fruit as well as a little bit of apricot. Taste – At the start of the taste a bready and grapefruit flavor greets the tongue along with some more grassy hop flavors. Some flavors of a light fruit flavor as well as a little bit of pineapple flavor soon come to the tongue. These sweeter flavors disappear soon however as flavors of grapefruit citrus hop grow stronger in nature with them being joined by some hop flavors of an earthy variety. When combined with the rest of the flavors, a bitter and dry, hoppy and bready flavor is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The beer was slightly on the creamier and thicker side with a carbonation level that was average. The thicker body was nice for the bready flavors of the brew as well as gave a chance for all the hop flavors a chance to e fully sensed by the tongue. Overall –A pretty nice English style IPA. It’s on the drier side with a good blend of citrus, earthy and herbal hop. Well worth a try.

12oz bottle. Pours a deep amber with a nice white head. Aroma is mild buy obvious hop flowers. Flavors a perfectly balanced between the pale malt that gives excellent body and sweetness - with the perfect amount of hops for a pale ale. Incredibly easy to drink and very refreshing. This would be a case buy if I had regular access.

Sampled @ ChrisO after GBBF day 2. Clear golden color, average sized white head. Aroma is malts, straw, hayish. Taste malts, lightly grainy, straw, very bitter. Average body, firm carbonation.

Expecting more complex hops, so while there were some interesting elements in the flavor (little citrus, thick malt, mild bitter), I was a little disappointed. Almost no head at all out of the bottle. Drinkable but not a great pale ale.

Bottle from GBBF 2014 and drunk at home. Hazy amber colour with lasting off white head. Light grapefruit and tangerine aroma. A bit dirty and earthy. Freshness is ok even though the BBE date is 6/7/14. OK pale ale. Just a little dirty. Bitterness on the finish is moderate. OK but nothing jumping out at me as being outstanding but drinkable enough,

Bottle (bottled 06/07/14)from GBBF. Pours a hazy orange gold - some floaties in there despite a careful pour. Slightly stale aroma - a bit cardboardy, woody, a little lemon. Light to medium body, medium carbonation. There’s light lemon, wood, stale bread, a little;e cardboard, light orange, a hint of grapefruit... It’s not actually as bad as that sounds and its got a decent dryness to it, but its not particularly tasty.

Bottle at GBBF thanks to Kenny. It pours hazy golden with a decent white head. The nose is soft, doughy, grainy, light creaminess and straw. The taste is bitter, tasty, doughy, grainy, grassy and mild spice with a dry finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Pretty basic.

Bright hazy light orange pour. Wheat and citrus in the aroma. Taste is citrus and floral hops with wheat, lemon. Light bitterness. Very drinkable.
