Tap @ Bells. Black appearance with a brown head. Dark chocolate, milk sugar, light espresso in the nose. Pretty sweet, milk sugar, chocolate, light coffee flavor. Not all that exciting.

Sample at the brewpub. This Stout pours flat black with a medium light beige head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Short stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, mild hops and chocolate. Medium, creamy body with flavors of mild coffee, sweet malt and chocolate. The finish is roasty with a chocolate aftertaste. Solid all around.

Draft. Creamy chocolate malt aroma. Dark brown with small head. Sweet milk chocolate malt flavor. Lightly bitter ashy finish. Solid and easy drinking.

On tap at Eccentric Cafe. Poured deep brown with a well-retained cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up sweeter chocolates and milky sugars on a succulent first impression.. touches of coffee and black patent beneath.. just what I needed! The flavor was sweet throughout with chocolate leading.. lactic sugars were laced throughout.. brownie-like finish.. bitterness was light and earthy. Sweet overall on the palate with perfect balance.. medium-bodied.. thankfully a long finish. Excellent stuff!!

Sampled from the tap at the brewpub. Pours near black with a brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has some sweet chocolate with dark grains and light roasted malts. Flavor is similar with milk chocolate and dark grains with a hint of earthy roasted malts in the finish.

Sampler pour on tap at the brewpub (Kalamazoo, MI). Pours a darker brownish pour, dark near opaque body with some ruby edges and bottom. A frothy offwhite head near tan head sits atop and dies to a decent ring, laces small. Aromas are milk chocolate, lactose sugars, some gentle roast and toast, some caramel, cocoa. Mellow sweetness pervades. Initial is medium bodied, offering toast and sweet lactose sugars up front, healthy milk chocolate influence, with more cocoa, caramel, and toffee. Some sweetened coffee, coffee and cream with a designer addition elements. Pleasant, a bit sweet, with a mellow sweeter gentle roasty finish. Simple yet enjoyable. Flavors are on for what it aspires to be.

Draft to taster. Looks Good; pitch black with thin lacing and little coronation. Smells good too; sweet, creamy, and malty. Tastes pretty good, but not as smooth as it smells. Mouthfeel is average. Good, not great.

Served in a pint glass at Meridian Pintís Bellís Night of Darkness. Pours near black with a solid tan head with a good bit of lacing and a nice collar. The nose is a bit tame with a bit of roast and chocolate. Iím giving it the benefit of the doubt given the glassware and the fact that it got quite a bit better as it warmed up. The flavor is quite nice and complex with a chocolate sweetness plus a touch of coffee. Nice roasted character and a bit of black licorice in the finish. The feel is ridiculously creamy and smooth with a nice chewiness. Awesome, awesome body. Almost certainly the best milk stout that Iíve ever had. I really hope they bottle this. Pint at the Eccentric Cafe on 3/30/13. Darkest brown pour with a medium tan head. Malty and creamy nose with notes of chocolate and roast. Malty and chocolatey flavor with a touch of lactose sourness before a roasty finish.

nimbleprop (4813) - SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA - DEC 28, 2010
Sampled at Bells Stout night at Meridian Pint in Washington D.C. Pours an oily, opaque black with a thin, beige head. Nose is sweet, malty, sugary, light bread. Flavor was sweet, sugary, malty, chocolate. The lacto sugars are definitely present. Full bodied, sweet finish. Of all the variations of their stout, this was the most well rounded.
