Designed as a flavorful session beer, Oarsman Ale uses a classic German brewing technique to impart a light, refreshing tartness. Oarsman Ale grew out of a desire to explore the tradition of session beers, trading intensity for finesse while still creating a worthwhile experience for the taster. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while light hopping lend citrus & herbal notes to the aroma. Fermented with Bellís house ale yeast, Oarsman comes in at 4.0% alcohol by volume. Rather than being the dominant flavor note, the tartness in Oarsman takes on more of a palate-cleansing role, making it perfect with meals or purely on its own.

Light tartness aroma. Very pale in appearance and pours with a light head. Very light bodied with a tart taste. An easy drinking ale that is light on the palate and is drinkable. It sort of reminds me of drinking a High Life.

A lot of negativity for this beer for some reason. Itís a great, refreshing, lemony ale. Palate is crisp and tart, and washes away quickly. Head develops nicely, but dissipates fast. Sessionable and great for the beach or a barbeque.

The appearance is like a nice light golden pils. The aroma is fruity and pleasant. Thatís where the positive signs stop. Tastes like a Weird mixture of club soda, alcohol, grapefruit rinds, and lemon rinds. Not good.

Bottled 11/26/13. Pour has a light golden yellow color with little head besides a ring of white foam. Aroma has not much to offer, faint tartness, a bit of lemon, and grains. Mouth feel is light and the carbonation on the low side. Flavor again leaves me looking for more, light Berliner tartness, mild lemon, and some grainy wheat. There are no flaws in the beer and it drinks extremely smooth I guess like a session Berliner mild.

Love Bells, but this stuff is just horrible. 5.75 of the 6-pack went down the drain. Iíll just concede that this is not the type of beer for me.

A- Pours a yellowish hue with a thin, off white head. S- Smell is slightly sour, hints of lighter fruit, bready. T- Taste is tart and bready with hints of lemon. M- Medium bodied with a good deal of carbonatin. D- I really disliked this beer. The tartness, while intentional, really didnít mesh well for me. Wonít be drinking this again.

A citrusey light beer, I drank it like water. I would highly recommend this beer during the summer months, very refreshing.

Rather fizzy white head tops a pale straw-golden body. Light haziness to it. Looks like a b-weisse.
Lactic acid is soft and aromatic in the nose, with lemon, light sponge cake and nuttiness from the wheat. Not the most exotic or complex aroma, but nor is there any flaw or alcohol here and whatís there is quite enjoyable.
Straightforward berliner in the mouth, with a moderate to moderately-low amount of acidity relative to style. Tons of lemon, light white pepper and some very dry, nutty wheat. Extremely light, very sessionable body with lightly fizzy carbonation. My only complaint was some tannic astringency from the grain and perhaps a touch of DMS. Otherwise, really nice summer drinker.

Poured from a bottle with a clear yellow color, plenty of bubbles, and a foamy white head that disappears quickly. The aroma is lemon and wheat. Taste is lemon, wheat, and a nice touch of tartness. The beer has a light to medium body feel and crisply refreshing. This was a surprise to me. I was expecting something light and uninteresting, but got something much more enjoyable.

Pours a clear golden piss color with a thin head. Not a lot on taste but there is a huge lemon drop aftertaste. Good work pizza but not by itself.
