Designed as a flavorful session beer, Oarsman Ale uses a classic German brewing technique to impart a light, refreshing tartness. Oarsman Ale grew out of a desire to explore the tradition of session beers, trading intensity for finesse while still creating a worthwhile experience for the taster. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while light hopping lend citrus & herbal notes to the aroma. Fermented with Bell’s house ale yeast, Oarsman comes in at 4.0% alcohol by volume. Rather than being the dominant flavor note, the tartness in Oarsman takes on more of a palate-cleansing role, making it perfect with meals or purely on its own.

UPDATED: FEB 8, 2016 6 pack at home- thanks Emily! Pretty decent as far as the session beer spectrum. Different take on it so points for being unique. Great summer beer- super light and crisp with enough tart to keep it from being boring. Definite citrus and spice on the palate. Thoroughly enjoyable. Clean. On tap at the Barrel. Nice, refreshing summer brew. Nothing outstanding but makes one want more.

Hazy golden with a thin bubbly white ring of foam. Nice earthy blonde and fruity tart nose that’s finely balanced and magnificently restrained. Tasty and oat-y flavor with light kettle-sour tartness, blonde wheat, light fruitiness, apricot, and a crisp very lightly tart flavor. Very nice and complex, yet restrained and delicate.

12oz bottle pours a golden color with a bit of head. Struggling to find anything to enjoy about this.

12 oz at WoB Belmar. This one is super cloudy with a yellow tint and a large, frothy white head. Nose is funky with hints at hay and citrus. The palate is really light. A pleasant tartness is in the flavor with light guava and lemon. Finish is quick and fruity. This is one crushable beer.

Hazy straw color with a head that fizzes away almost instantly. Aroma is classic berliner weisse: sweet lemon or lemonade with some honey hints and wheat. Taste starts with wheat beer notes and follows with a pretty light, lemony tartness. Body is light and well carbonated, making the beer very refreshing and easy to drink. Overall this is a very well made, classic berliner weisse.

Bottle pours hazy yellow gold with a fizzy white head. Aroma shows hay, lemon zest, white pepper, and dusty wheat. Flavor is exactly what you expect. Uncomplicated and clean. Overall body is light and the finish is dry.

Appearance: Packaged 27/3-2015. Hazy yellow, fizzy white head.
Aroma: Sour fruit, more tart than sour, maybe.
Taste: Sour/Tart fruit, not much else. Actually a bit watery. Sorry, (still) not my thingamabob.
Bought: Total Wine (Sterling), 355 ml, $1.99
Info: 14/9-2015

BOTTLE. Poured a hazy/cloudy lemon to straw with a small flat white head.. Generic wheat nose, with a stronger zesty citrus vibe than most.. Crisp mouth feel, Strong citrus presence and almost lemon grass bitter bite.. Sourced RW
