Designed as a flavorful session beer, Oarsman Ale uses a classic German brewing technique to impart a light, refreshing tartness. Oarsman Ale grew out of a desire to explore the tradition of session beers, trading intensity for finesse while still creating a worthwhile experience for the taster. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while light hopping lend citrus & herbal notes to the aroma. Fermented with Bellís house ale yeast, Oarsman comes in at 4.0% alcohol by volume. Rather than being the dominant flavor note, the tartness in Oarsman takes on more of a palate-cleansing role, making it perfect with meals or purely on its own.

Like sour Bud Light. Absolutely no head (the presence of which I find can somewhat save a lousy beer). The first and only beer I will return to the store for an exchange. Not sure what the agenda is at Bellís. Their prices rise as the beer quality falls.

12 oz at WoB Belmar. This one is super cloudy with a yellow tint and a large, frothy white head. Nose is funky with hints at hay and citrus. The palate is really light. A pleasant tartness is in the flavor with light guava and lemon. Finish is quick and fruity. This is one crushable beer.

Hazy straw color with a head that fizzes away almost instantly. Aroma is classic berliner weisse: sweet lemon or lemonade with some honey hints and wheat. Taste starts with wheat beer notes and follows with a pretty light, lemony tartness. Body is light and well carbonated, making the beer very refreshing and easy to drink. Overall this is a very well made, classic berliner weisse.

Bottle pours hazy yellow gold with a fizzy white head. Aroma shows hay, lemon zest, white pepper, and dusty wheat. Flavor is exactly what you expect. Uncomplicated and clean. Overall body is light and the finish is dry.

Appearance: Packaged 27/3-2015. Hazy yellow, fizzy white head.
Aroma: Sour fruit, more tart than sour, maybe.
Taste: Sour/Tart fruit, not much else. Actually a bit watery. Sorry, (still) not my thingamabob.
Bought: Total Wine (Sterling), 355 ml, $1.99

Pours a hazy, yellow, fizzy body. Head is super thin and white. Head retention and lacing were average. Smell is of straw malt, lemon zest, and peppery saison/hefeweizen yeast. No hops or alcohol detected. Taste is of acidic, slightly sour, pale, straw malt. Tastes like a corona with a lime added, I think Iíve used that descriptor with Westbrook Gose as well. Mouthfeel is light and very well carbonated. Head dissipated quickly unfortunately and lacto yeast left a puckering sensation on the palate. Overall this beer was a refreshing, session able berliner. Nothing remarkable but a solid and easy to obtain ale. Would like to enjoy this one on a hot summer day.

Bottle. Hazy orange with a modest white head. Aroma of apples, damp hay/ wheaty funk, old lemons. After that the taste is a bit of a let down. Thereís little sourness and itís all a lot less funky than the aroma leads you to expect. What sourness there is is lemony and upfront. Wheat and lemon, dry finish. Pretty refreshing but not very involving.

355 ml bottle. Enjoyed at San Diego, CA. Pours a cloudyvpale yellow colour with a small head. Aroma of yeast, lemon muffins and some bread. Flavour is very yeasty with some maltiness and lemon juice. Light bodied. Watery. Messy. A berliner weisse? Really?

355 ml bottle @ hotel room, San Diego.
Pours clear golden color with a small head. Lime and lemon on the nose, yeast and spices with some earthy notes. Sourish lemon flavor, spices and yeast. A bit boring, crisp though.
