COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Designed as a flavorful session beer, Oarsman Ale uses a classic German brewing technique to impart a light, refreshing tartness. Oarsman Ale grew out of a desire to explore the tradition of session beers, trading intensity for finesse while still creating a worthwhile experience for the taster. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while light hopping lend citrus & herbal notes to the aroma. Fermented with Bellís house ale yeast, Oarsman comes in at 4.0% alcohol by volume. Rather than being the dominant flavor note, the tartness in Oarsman takes on more of a palate-cleansing role, making it perfect with meals or purely on its own.

Bells still ranks among my favorites, but I gotta say, the last 2 or 3 Iíve had have been pretty uninspired. First Oberon, now this. Itís ok. Falls a little flat. Aroma is weak if pleasant enough, hay pretty much. Flavor is a touch better as some lemony twang gets in there, but then it finishes a bit watery. Decent beer, weak Berliner.

Bottle into pint glass, very cloudy golden color with white head. Aroma notes of wheat malt sweetness, grain, tad herbal and slight citrus. Taste adds lemon, straw and light fruity tartness. Light body, moderate-low carbonation, soft with clean tart yeasty finish. Easy drinking wheat ale with light lactic character.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. Poured cloudy, yellow fizzy white head. Aroma of lemon, grain and even some malts (I was not expecting this). Taste, tart citrus fruit and some grain. Refreshing and crisp.

Poured a slightly hazy yellow color with a thin head. Aroma is almost sour with a little bit of skunk and lemon. Taste is very crisp with a good amount of tart lemon flavors. Some wheat and grains balance it out. Lots of veggies as well. Aftertaste is not the best, a bit like skunk and cardboard. Overall itís ok.

Blonde, light haziness. Aroma is lightly yeasty, seems wheaty. Somewhat toasty wheaty with a fairly clean lacto.

Single bottle from mix-pack. Hazy yellow pour, small soapy head. Mostly citrus peel in the aroma. Taste is similar - tart lemon, a little dry. Thin mouthfeel.

From a 355ml bottle on 6//2015. Pours a slightly cloudy pale yellow/straw with a medium white head which disappears quickly. Has a slightly herbal aroma, with a hint of tart citrus. In the mouth. thereís a moderate tart, sour lemon against a mild wheat background. Light bodied with lively carbonation. Fairly uninspiring.

Bottle. Straw pour with small head. Lemon on the nose and as the dominant flavor. Citrus zing with moderate tartness. Not overly interesting. An okay summer beer, I guess.

Draft 6 oz pour at the imperial bottle shop event. Pours a clear pale yellow with a lasting bubbly head. Soft grainy aroma. Low tartness to it, though itís definitely there. Light apple, fruit. Sweet, tasty.
