COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Designed as a flavorful session beer, Oarsman Ale uses a classic German brewing technique to impart a light, refreshing tartness. Oarsman Ale grew out of a desire to explore the tradition of session beers, trading intensity for finesse while still creating a worthwhile experience for the taster. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while light hopping lend citrus & herbal notes to the aroma. Fermented with Bell’s house ale yeast, Oarsman comes in at 4.0% alcohol by volume. Rather than being the dominant flavor note, the tartness in Oarsman takes on more of a palate-cleansing role, making it perfect with meals or purely on its own.

12oz bottle pours slightly hazy pale golden yellow with small head. Nose is lemony grains, orange, light cereal, hay. Taste is crisp, moderate tartness, nice juicy lemon and citrus, creamy cereal grain and wheat backbone. Finish is tart lacto lemon with some light cheese and grains. Great beer and super easy drinker.

Slightly hazy pale straw yellow. Thin head around rim. Slight citrus note and mild grain note on nose. Light sourness -- assertive but not overwhelming. Tart, citrus note, some cereal grainy/maltiness. Clean finish. Refreshing.

12 oz. bottle from Cash Wise in Watford. Appearance: finger white head, pale straw, clear, no carbonation. Aroma: wheat, funky fruit, leather. Palate: light body, thin texture, average carbonation. Taste: sweet fruit, apple and raspberry maybe, and lightly funky/very slightly tart, but not sour. Overall, refreshing and drinkable, but nothing amazing really.

Drought. Rich. Yellow with creamy off-white head, citrus flavor, high carbonation, slightly sour taste with citrus peel flavor, abrupt finish. Very nice combination of a sour and weisse.

Citrusy aroma, taste was not quite as sour as I wanted it to be. Refreshing and crisp, but not exceptional.

Bottle picked up at GBBF 2014. Pours a pale straw gold with a white head. Malty, white bread, lemon aroma. Light body, medium to full carbonation. Light sponge cake, lemon, light grass, light wood, a little honey and a hint of metal. Fairly pleasant.

Bottle split at JF’s, cheers Jim, 20/08/14. Lightly hazed golden orange with moderate off white spotting. Nose is citric peel, light vegetal notes, citric dankened straw, lemon rind. Taste comprises citric sherbet, lemon rind, hay, floral notes. Medium bodied, fine carbonaiton, citric sherbets in the close. Pretty low end ’Linner, had expected more from Bells, hardly detected any acidity in this one, no crisp refreshing close. Drinkable but ulimtately a miss!

pours hazy extra pale yellow with a decent white cap, shy retention and lacing. lemons and limes, cheezy lactos, wheat acidity - never too husky, sourdough bread, lightly sweet grains, pepper, bitter herbs, hint of cardboard, sulfur and minerals. moderately low carbonation, light body - barely watery, gently tart, almost astringent and dry grassy-herbal-limey finish. not overly complex but very effective lime-oriented and cheezy berliner.
