COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Designed as a flavorful session beer, Oarsman Ale uses a classic German brewing technique to impart a light, refreshing tartness. Oarsman Ale grew out of a desire to explore the tradition of session beers, trading intensity for finesse while still creating a worthwhile experience for the taster. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while light hopping lend citrus & herbal notes to the aroma. Fermented with Bell’s house ale yeast, Oarsman comes in at 4.0% alcohol by volume. Rather than being the dominant flavor note, the tartness in Oarsman takes on more of a palate-cleansing role, making it perfect with meals or purely on its own.

Bottle from Bruisin Ales. Pours hazy lemon with a foamy white head. Aroma is citric with a touch of wheat. Med minus body. It’s almost sour citrus, followed by some papery wheat. Rather clean and refreshing in a light soda pop way.

Draft… RBSG 2010… Hazy straw-colored ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The nose is somewhat reserved, but acidic, lactic and lemony with a lesser note of pale grains. Light to medium-bodied and mildly creamy with tingly carbonation. Even at room temperature, the flavor is lemony and acidic, but unwelcome sweetness does make a fashionably late appearance. Finishes dry and a touch astringent, yet somewhat refreshing.

Draft at Cafe. Poured hazy golden color with an average fizzy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate grainy wheat aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration. The beer went well with the peanuts.

Pale straw coloured pour. The nose is softly wheaty with a light lactic character. Soft and wheaty but there is very little in the way of tartness or acidity. Bland and quite watery - sort of like a watered-down American wheat ale. Meh.

Bottle, batch 9861: Pours a clear pale golden with an effervescent ring of white head. Has a tart orange zest nose with a subtle grainy wheat character. Starts with average fullness and a mild wheaty sweetness with a hint of clove before a crisp, tart citric finish. Pretty smooth and drinkable, but a little too tart for a session ale for my tastes.

Bottle from batch number 9861 thanks to LtDan. Pours with a hazy golden body and a white head that stays. Aroma is grainy, lacto, and grassy. Flavor is lemon, lactic and grainy. Not super sour. Fizzy and dry. Could be a bit more sour as a Berliner Weisse.
