COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Designed as a flavorful session beer, Oarsman Ale uses a classic German brewing technique to impart a light, refreshing tartness. Oarsman Ale grew out of a desire to explore the tradition of session beers, trading intensity for finesse while still creating a worthwhile experience for the taster. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while light hopping lend citrus & herbal notes to the aroma. Fermented with Bellís house ale yeast, Oarsman comes in at 4.0% alcohol by volume. Rather than being the dominant flavor note, the tartness in Oarsman takes on more of a palate-cleansing role, making it perfect with meals or purely on its own.

Iím not sure people rating this beer know what a Berliner Weisse is. On that note very enjoyable! Great summer beer.

Big fan of this session beer. Only 4%. Little sour note but crisp as well. Good summer beer. Could have lots over a long period of time. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not bad at all. I like the tart wheat thing going on. Needs more alcohol though. I put down 10 of these in like 3 hours and barely had a buzz. Chuck Norris pisses this shit.

Wonderfully tart nose and taste. Bright, crystal clear gold, back of tongue tartness. Nice hot weather beer.

What a session beer! Nice crisp wheat beer but I love that tangy zing it has to it on the finish! One of the most complex wheat brews Iíve ever had. Great beer, definitely try it if you have the opportunity.

A - Pours a fairly clear golden-yellow with a thin finger of frothy white head. The head fades down fairly quickly leaving behind a touch of lace. S - Aroma is a mix of sharp acidic and tart lemon with some farmhouse funk, wheat, a bit of sourness, and some yeast. T - Starts off with a mix of tart and acidic lemon with some funkiness and lightly sweet wheat. Through the middle, some more yeast and stronger funk comes through with some more grains and a touch of bread. The finish is a mix of lemon zest, wheat, tart and acidic flavors, with some funky yeast. M - Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a tart, acidic, sour, and funky finish. D - Very drinkable. Nice Berliner Weissbier with really nice balance and some good acidic, tart, and funky flavors.

Great beer. I could drink this all day. It pours light yellow, with a thin, white head. It is slightly cloudy. In the aroma I can detect some earthy hops and a sictint lactic sourness that isnít overpowering like a true berliner weisse. The mouthfeel is pretty light, and the carbonation is moderate. The flavor is malty, with perhaps some light hops and a nice tartness from the lactic fermentation. Itís not overpowering, but adds a pleasant tartness that is quite refreshing. Wonderful.

I think for a Berliner Weisse, that this is a really strong offering! The first time I had it, I was told it was a witbier and I was really confused. Lemon, citrus, lactic tartness, balanced, drinkable, refreshing. I really love this beer!!
