COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Designed as a flavorful session beer, Oarsman Ale uses a classic German brewing technique to impart a light, refreshing tartness. Oarsman Ale grew out of a desire to explore the tradition of session beers, trading intensity for finesse while still creating a worthwhile experience for the taster. The grain bill includes a healthy portion of wheat, while light hopping lend citrus & herbal notes to the aroma. Fermented with Bellís house ale yeast, Oarsman comes in at 4.0% alcohol by volume. Rather than being the dominant flavor note, the tartness in Oarsman takes on more of a palate-cleansing role, making it perfect with meals or purely on its own.

UPDATED: NOV 12, 2010 Bottle pours yellow with a lot of carbonation and thin head. Aroma of citrus, light hops, and some bread. Thin, carbonated palate, with a refreshing taste and a bit of tartness. Clean finish with a slight lingering sour aftertaste. Iíd like to session this beer during summer, where I could really appreciate this light and crisp beer. Iím not sure Iíll be able to handle any more extreme sours after drinking this one.

Was so confused. I thought this was a pale ale when I made my notes. Anyway this was a very good Berliner. Notes: very yellow straw color, white head. Light tart aroma. Taste is tangy, lemon citrus sweetness with some tartness.

Good sunny color. Head not too thick. Tart but not a gose. Nice for a summer day.

Fairly clear pale yellow pour with thin layer of white fuzzy head. Bright floral hop aroma but light, mild lactose too. Average carbonation, creamy mouthfeel thatís of average thickness, really nice clean finish. Light and crisp tasting beer with a healthy dose of floral hops and a respectable dairy component, nutty flavor toward the finish. Really great light beer with hops and just a bit of dairy sour.

Very hazy straw. Super light and tart. Almost soda like carbonation and body. Would rather try a flavored version.

Bottle. Pours a clear yellow-gold with no head or lace. Aroma is lemon mash and wheat. The taste is crisp with Cheerios, lemon, slight coriander and some funk. Very refreshing, clean, crisp. Light body, moderate carbonation. Thanks for the trade JB.

bottle @ Party Town / Florence KY --- Clear light amber, thin white head cover, dots of lace. Aroma of malt and corn. Taste is underwhelming -- mostly lemon with a little malt and a very little hops thrown in at various times. Not particularly thirst quenching, not up to Bellís usual standards.

12 oz bottle shared from Total Wine & More - Gilbert, AZ. Pale gold appearance with a diminishing white head. Tart citrus fruits, light herbs and light bready malts. Light and refreshing.

Poured from bottle to glass. Hazy golden hue with fizzy dhite head that dissipated quickly. Aroma is corn, lactic, hay, lemon. Mouthfeel is nice with a light body and crisp carbonation. Taste is dry with a tartness following. Overall this would be a decent brew, but is a bit too heavy on the DMS.
