A brown beer with a very fast disappering brown head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of chocolate, but also light hints of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with quite strong notes of chocolate, and lesser notes of roasted malt, which also lends a bit of sourness to the beer, vegetables, spices, and oatmeal. Quite nice.

Extremely dark brown, but yeah I’m still getting a tiny bit of light through there. Hints of oats right away in the aroma, then lots of roast; slightly metallic palate, some roastiness, lacking the smoothness I was hoping for.

(Draught) Pours an opaque black body with an aggressive tan head. Aroma of chocolate, oatmeal, roasted grain, and some mustiness. Flavor of roasted malt, chocolate, and oatmeal. Reminds me some of my chocolate power smoothies.

UPDATED: NOV 30, 2006 Bottle... Pitch black with a very creamy, light brown head. Terrific retention. Smoke, vanilla, chocolate, oak and a hint of bourbon in the nose. The flavor is very hearty, chocolatey, vineous and smoky with a touch of toffee. Medium-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. Lengthy, bone-dry finish. Thanks to jtw for sending me this very elusive brew!

Draft. Poured a black color with a large frothy light brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted chocolate malt aroma. Medium to heavy smooth sweet chocolate flavor with a medium to heavy sweet finish of moderate to long duration. Full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. This is a very good beer.
