UPDATED: APR 6, 2004 Aroma is very bread-like, yeasty. Cloudy appearance. Slight spicey orange citrus flavor but tastes more like wheat bread.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 hotstuff (3350) - Indiana, USA - MAY 26, 2003
Poured a large envigorating white creamy head with fine bubbles. The aroma appeared to be citrusy. The lacing was sparse on the sides of my glass. It was bitter tasting and it left a lingering aftertaste. I was expecting a better brew than what this one turned out to be.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 thedm (4783) - Fort Wayne, USA - MAY 26, 2003
UPDATED: JUN 4, 2003 This brew poured a very large invigorated head of finely sized white bubbles and a cloudy orange unfiltered yeasty body. It had a hop aroma and was slightly fizzy in its start while coming to a smooth finish with its mild hop flavor.

On Tap (Yogis Bloomington IN) - Huge creamy head on top of the hazy golden colored beer, thin bodied. All the characteristics of a white (wit) wheat beer, citrus nose, a little spicy on the palate. Well balanced for a wheat, finished with lingering wheat taste. Not as big and complex as others in the genre, but a very drinkable brew.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 flemdawg (509) - Naples, Florida, USA - MAY 21, 2003
Hazy golden color, and a thin white head. A bit of a fruity aroma, but a stuffy nose is preventing any real comments. Bit of a citrusy taste, and a bit of wheat. Dry finish. Over all, not too bad, but Bells has better.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 LiebeBier (808) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - MAY 17, 2003
A beautiful golden/yeasty beer with a nice head. Excellent wheat flavor with a crisp finish. Has a fruity, spicy flavor that is great.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 burgerlicious (308) - Indianapolis, Indiana, USA - MAY 17, 2003
pale but cloudy in color. sort of bland all around. often served with citrus, for better or worse. basically, an "eh".

Having moved to Michigan in March, all I heard about was Oberon. When it arrived, I was disappointed. On tap the beer is gold (yellow?) with a cloudy appearance, but really thin mouth feel not the expected chewy feel I get with other good wheats. While the beer is refreshing, I found it lacking the fruity flavors I expect. This is a nice beer, but not a beer I would seek.

I'm starting to get into American Wheats and this beer is a fine example. Very refreshing.
1.6 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 EddieG (168) - Palos Heights, Illinois, USA - MAY 11, 2003
UPDATED: JUN 16, 2003 Again, I had to rerate because of the consistant problem that Bell's has with quality. Another infected Oberon. The ration is not almost 1 in 3 beers is bad. Dissappointing.
