COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American wheat ale made with European ingredients. Belgium wheat malt and Czech Saaz hops provide a spicy, fruity balance to this seasonal ale. (Formerly known as Solsun)

G: Poured into, of course, a Bell’s Oberon pint glass. A: Pale golden-orangish-yellow (enough colors?) with a naze haze. S: The pale wheat is definitely there, and somewhat obscured by a citrus spiciness. T: Citrus and spice along with the wheat backbone. M: Quite light and crisp; good carbonation. D: A very nice summer beer and one that is quite sessionable indeed. My gateway beer to the craft world. Serving type: on-tap Reviewed on: 04-23-2009

Well this is a wheat ale in which the wheat only plays a supporting role, and I suppose that is, in my opinion, how it should be. Very hazy yellow with no head and small particles in suspension. Smells of bread, slight orange rind, and a bit of grain. The first thing that becomes apparent in the taste is the tartness of the wheat on the back-sides of the palate, but very quickly this is overtaken by a very slight caramel malt flavor which is very pleasant. The caramel and wheat flavors are in balance, with subtle hints of hops, banana, and orange peel coming in at various times. Very good for a summer wheat ale.

I’ve also had this beer many times. A solid wheat ale, although it’s popularity exceeds how much I like it.

Incredible, sweet, orange and citrus aroma. Pours a beautiful amber-orange with a clear white head. Perfect amount of bitterness in the aftertaste.

Hazy pale orange with a small off white head. Aroma is rotten and oxydized. Flavor is rotten, oxydized and had vague notes of wheat and fruit.

Bottled. An unclear dark golden beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma has notes of oxidation, malt, and straw. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of oxidation, combined with notes of malt, caramel, and metal, leading to a dry bitter finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.
