An American wheat ale made with European ingredients. Belgium wheat malt and Czech Saaz hops provide a spicy, fruity balance to this seasonal ale. (Formerly known as Solsun)

UPDATED: AUG 11, 2011 Bottle @ home, courtesy of bushmat1. Thanks Matt! Pretty colorful, yellow orange appearance with a white head. Bready, lemon zesty, moderately wheat malty nose. A touch spicy, quite wheat malty, lemon, citrus fruity flavor that’s pretty refreshing. Solid wheat beer that would probably be great on a hot summer afternoon.

Pours a hazy straw color with a hint of orange. No real head when poured but when roused forms a thinish white head. Aromas of yeast, fresh bread, wheat, and a bit of lemony acidity. The taste is spritzy, lemony, with a hint of yeast imparted complexity (perhaps a hint of banana and a bit of clove). This is a nice easy drinking hot weather beer. I like the bit of lemon-acidity, whithout which this beer would be a dud. As this beer warms up the fruitiness picks up a bit. There is a nice bit of spiciness, which seems to be from a hop contribution. Certainly recommended if you are in need of Summer time refreshment.

Medium hazy, peachy gold, thin beady head. Mild, slightly sweet fruit and cereal aroma. Tart, medium-light sweetness. Good body, not too fizzy. Well-crafted. great summer fare. Esters are contrained.

Pours a ruddy yellow with a small head. Lightly fruity nose and strong german malt. There is a strong presence of german malt (munich I think) in the flavor, along with a nice wheatiness. A touch of hops.

A lot of nice characteristics, to be sure, and easy drinking. Nice white head over a golden-yellow body. Some citrus, but not striking me as complex as some wits--lacking a certain edge of spice and replacing it with a hint of sour in the finish. A bit watery at times.

UPDATED: APR 17, 2008 Bottle. Drinking a summer beer in near-freezing weather seems to be a good way to remove a small amount of inflation. Sweet yeast-and-citrus scent, hazy and particulate yellow-golden pour with a sticky white head. Spicy and vaguely fruity, tastes more like a Weizen or Wit than an AW, which to me is a massive plus. Dry wheaty aftertaste and a prickly, mildly spicy, medium body. Puckering tang. Balanced and rounded, I like this a lot. Sweet and lemony, soft mf. A quaffer for sure, and probably an excellent summer drink - makes me not hate the style so much! [3.1]

Fresh Oberon to spell the start of spring (batch 8345). Pour is sicklier than remembered. Taste is much dryer and wheatier than remembered. Lots of orange rind, too. Still don’t care for the malt/faint hop pairing, and, despite the obvious care and balance, which make it worth drinking, not a whole lot farther down the road than standard swill. Certainly, a summer quencher.[3.1]

Light wheat aroma, with nice hint of citrus. Cloudy pale amber with small foamy off-white head. Medium watery body and medium carb. OK wheat beer, but more bitter than wheaty. Still citrusy and refreshing.

Draft, Brickskeller. Pours a hazy, brownish-yellow color; fluffy white head with great retention and lacing coating the interior of the glass. Sugar and wheat in the aroma. Lively carbonation. Medium, chewy sugar and wheat and light spice in the mouth; refreshing and highly drinkable. Medium, wheat finish.
