COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American wheat ale made with European ingredients. Belgium wheat malt and Czech Saaz hops provide a spicy, fruity balance to this seasonal ale. (Formerly known as Solsun)

UPDATED: JUN 21, 2006 Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy and tupalev, my bottle. Poured hazy deep yellow with a decent diminishing white head, lots of white chunkies in the bottom. Slightly sour malt, dry wheaty grain, yeast; mild. Pretty ehh taste, grainy malt, a little harsh and slightly sour; thinnish mouthfeel, sharply lively yet not too carbonated, astringent - more a generic macro-style lawnmower ale than a wheat.

Bottle from Whole Foods in Charlottesville. I tried this first last year and was underwhelmed. I’ve heard this year’s batch is better. We’ll see. I’m not a fan of the aroma, which is a slight yeastiness, bubblegum and cardboard. Small but persistent head and excellent lacing. Hazy peach in appearance. Fruity taste nicely balanced with the hops. Good taste.

UPDATED: JUL 3, 2008 I have had this numerous times in bottles and again on tap. I much prefer the bottled version. I setect a lot fewer oranges than I did a few years ago. On tap. Has a nice medium head on top of the light gold and orange body. The smell is oranges and a little grass. The taste is very refreshing. Tastes of oranges. A great lawnmower beer if I have ever had one.

A bonus beer sampled at Cellar’s LexLarp in St Paul. From the bottle it poours a golden amber with a very thick white head. Aroma of wheat, citrus, nutmeg and some banana. Taste is a little flat with hints of citrus, wheat and nutmeg. A light watery finish. A bit overrated but palatable.

Hazy gold pour with bright white head that dissipated to a thin ring in about a minute or so. The aroma is a blooming wheat field on a hot summer day after a noon rain shower. Could have been an afternoon rain shower too. Although there’s some malt sweetness in the aroma too. The flavor is sweet with malts and floral honey. I also get grainy malts beyond midway along with a big dose of floral hops.

Bottle. Golden beer with a whitish head. Malty/wheat aroma. Caramel malt, wheat, slight citrus flavor. Light and crisp. Easy drinking. Lingering wheat/caramel. Hay/earth/slight spice.

Bottle. Totally cloudy apricot-orange color. Mild citrusy smell with some cookie and apricot pastry smells. Thin body. Yeasty, but hoppy ending. Pretty boring.
