COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American wheat ale made with European ingredients. Belgium wheat malt and Czech Saaz hops provide a spicy, fruity balance to this seasonal ale. (Formerly known as Solsun)

Great for an American Wheat, and good based on just being a beer my rating reflects a middle ground here on style vs. the beer itself. Fruity aroma with a musty sourness, fairly grassy as well. Gold pour with a thin bright white head and steady carbonation. Lively and filling, the flavor doesn’t linger and there’s a sharp finish. This is very flavorful for an American Wheat. Light bitterness jumps out quick followed by some fruity flavors of lemon, apricot, and orange. Creamy malt and grainy wheat. Not over the top but one of the best in it’s class. Fantastic for a generally dull style, and pretty good simply as a beer.

Bell’s Oberon Ale is a clear, bright golden ale with a thin white head that fades to a film and leaves nice lacing. It has a spicy hop aroma; floral, resiny and a touch sweet. Nice. A note of honey lingers in the nose. It has a creamy, chewy medium body and a dry, slightly acidic finish. It’s a crisp and bitter flavor, like citrus tea with a biscuity backbone. It’s a bold and proper use of wheat.

UPDATED: AUG 20, 2007 Bottle: Pours what could best be described as a peach nectar color. Little to no head. Wheat dominated nose with notes of citrus and a hint of nutmeg. Some floral hops come through as it warms. Very refreshing, slightly carbonated and smooth. A big citrus, posturing base with a mild yeast taste. Good stuff.

Bottle. Pours a pale golden with a small frothy white head that diminishes quickly. The aroma is honey citrus and sweet fruit. Decent spotty lacing on the glass. The taste is citrus with a light hop dry finish. Easy to drink, a good wheat ale from bells.

UPDATED: JUL 10, 2009 Picked up a mini keg in the cleve. So enjoyable with a burger on a hot summer day. Apricot with fluffy white head. Crisp, flavor of orange spice, wheat, citrus, a schtickle of hop notes.

On draft in Michigan. This beer has taken off over the past few years. I’ve had it repeatedly and at different locations and have noticed more variation in the quality than any other beer. When it’s good, it’s got a medium transient head with scent of banana, citrus, yeast and wheat and drinks well with a Belgian spiciness. When it’s bad, it’s simply flat and dull. My beer buddies all relate to the love-hate relationship I’ve had going on with Oberon.

Thanks emacgee! Pours a very nice hazy yellow with thin off-white head. Smells like a classic wheat beer. Pepper and grapefruit dominate this one. Very nice flavor and excellent carbonation. Finishes very crisp with a hint of citrus. This one went down very easy, would drink again and again, especially on a hot summer day!

Taste 7/9 Bottle. Looks: Nice cloudy orange body with a disappearing foam. Aroma: Nice citrus and wheat without being sweet. Taste: One of my favorite summer wheat ales. Flavors are blended without being sticky or sweet. Occasional session beer.
