COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An American wheat ale made with European ingredients. Belgium wheat malt and Czech Saaz hops provide a spicy, fruity balance to this seasonal ale. (Formerly known as Solsun)

Goethe: How to rate (art) beer: 1)what is it trying to say? 2)does it say it? 3)is it worth the effort? Oberon isn’t a big tasting ale, but it does its job exceedingly well.

Very nice beer, has a pleasant after taste of citrus, best served chilled and in a big glass.

One of my new favorite beers. Looks like orange soda pop in the glass, awesome. Strong flavor of orange and a bold sweetness. This beer is full of bitter, sour, citrus, spice, caramel, wheat, yeast, and dried fruit, and apricot flavors. Medium bodied and soft in the mouth with decent carbonation. Finishes dry. Very complex and well balanced beer.

UPDATED: JUN 30, 2009 As a 25 year resident of Kalamazoo, I’ve been swilling Oberon ever since that first summer when it was Solsun and only available in 22oz bottles. It was startling outstanding and unique at the time, and the glam has never worn off. Excellent aroma of grain and hops, cloudy tawny gold color with a great head, flavor is sweet /sour wheaty with a touch of spice, excellent light hops bitterness in the finish. Palate is just plain excellent. Still has a bit of yeast residue in the bottom of the bottle. Not quite as distinctive as some other wheat brews out there, but one of the best.

I love this beer. It’s very fruity. Nice spice. Great afternoon session beer.

Poured a nice yellow gold into a pint glass. Head was good but faded fairly quickly. Smell was quite mild, but in a good way. Mouthfeel was also good. Slight bitter ending that reminded me of a fruit rind. This is a beer I could drink all day!

Like any other hope head, I salivate when I hear the year’s batch has been released. It is the smoothest summer ale I have ever tasted - I had my first one when it was still called Solsun and bottled in 22oz bottles. This is the best example of a summer wheat beer I have ever had and the brewer should be sainted for releasing this to the public - great job Larry!!!

One of the great summer beers. Don’t drink this beer in the cold winter months of the "Great White North". First of all, this is a wheat beer which means summer. Also, by December, all you are going to find are old stale bottles and kegs.
