Bellís Oberon is a wheat ale fermented with Bellís signature house ale yeast, mixing a spicy hop character with mildly fruity aromas. The addition of wheat malt lends a smooth mouthfeel, making it a classic summer beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy straw color with a light-medium head. Mild aroma of yeast and citrus. The flavor is a little bit skunky (because of the Czech hops?) and bready, which knocks it down a notch. Some nice citrus and spice notes are there, though. Nice mouthfeel. Nevertheless, Iíd slate this as one of Bellsí weaker offerings, and much less impressive than, say, an Allagash White.

Crisp fizzy and dry, with a lovely puffy body. A mellow sweetness, through a predominantly bready flavor. A nice bitter tingle in the center of the tongue too. Summer swigginí

A great summer beer, spicy and delicious. It had been a few years since Iíd had Oberon, and this years version seems spicier. Great beer for 90 degree days...........and its now available in cans!!

Bottle at Gollem in Antwerp (along with 77ships), first time for me, though this is a classic among American wheat ales. Cobweb-lacing, off-white, moussy head over a hazy yellow golden beer with slight peachy hue. Aroma is unfortunately ruined by a lot of DMS (cooked cauliflower), which I am very sensitive to and which I did not in the least expect in a Bellís; after this sulfuric odor fades a bit, I get green banana, soap, white bread, sugared pineapple, peach, mango, yeast. Fruity onset, bit estery with peach, pineapple and gooseberry impressions, medium carbo, supple malt sweet body with soapy and light sourish wheat, light hoppy finish with a somewhat herbal character but not as aromatic (let alone bittering) as it could have been - though like all wheat beer styles, American wheat is not characterized by huge hop quantities anyway, of course. And thus this beer ends mostly with malt sweetness, a bit grainy even, and on the thin side. I expected a whole lot more considering how great Bellís other beers are and the DMS largely ruined this for me so this was the big disappointment of the day, Iím afraid...

355 ml. bottle @ Gollem. Date says 03/02/16. Hazy golden, little white patchy head. Nose is big paper, some cardboard, there is low orange peel, mango, apricot, low grain,Ö Taste is bitter insecticide, herbal, paper, apricot, lots of paper, low cardboard, low esters & orange peel, tad bitter herbs. Body is bit dull, oily, paper. Not really getting the high score here, it doesnít have a pleasant wheat base, hop presence is far too low, most bitterness and taste is paper and mothballs, meh at best this one.

UPDATED: JUN 19, 2016 Yellow color with white foam ring. Light hoppy nose. Sweet, yet light bitter taste with a little weird hop mixture. Dry bitter finish with some tartness in the aftertaste.

Bottle, clean pour little head and a bit of sediment. Light hazy gold, definite wheat/biscuit scent with a trace of fruit. Clean crisp malt, orange, straw, corn. Refreshing yes but not big enough for my typical taste.

Perfect beer for those looking to avoid a hoppy PA, or someone who "doesn't normally" care for beer. Smooth, easy drinking, great hot day treat. Not a lot of character for the snooty beer expert, but perfect for anyone looking for refreshment. Has a fine body, decent carbonation, good, if not "neutral", taste, nothing offensive, yet not a Budweiser or Miller sort of vibe/taste. Nice beer.
