A coppery amber lager that showcases a full bodied, malty flavor that is balanced by a refreshing bitterness derived from fine noble hops.

Overall, the beer was a bit bland. It was good but nothing jumped out at me.

UPDATED: SEP 17, 2008 12 oz. bottle batch 8038. Pours a clear dark golden color with a large fizzy disappearing head. The aroma is subdued caramel malts with hay, biscuits, and a hint of mensroom. The flavor has mediumsweet caramel malt with some biscuit, but not much else. A bit thin for my tastes. Disappointing offering from Bells. Batch 8611 - Many similar qualities compared to last year, however my overall impression is that this one is better. The aroma lost the mensroom nose from last year and I found this to be more drinkable.

Very timid interpretation of the style. Tihn-bodied and watered-down, tasting of lightly roasted caramel malt and mere hints of earthy hops...just nothing to get excited about for any reason. Thanks to Cornfield and Frankenkitty for the sample.

Bottle and served in a standard pint glass: Clean amber hue with a rocky frothy head and good lace. The aroma has notes of grassy herbal aromatic hops along with the expected caramel and biscuity vapours, mineral water and light earthy esters. The taste starts with a very light ripened fruit and caramel tone supported by a slight bitterness with a husky vain running throughout. The finish displays what is basically allspice and gypsum. The flavor profile is a bit better that most with some bitterness detected, thank god! The mouth feel is lively enough for the style and dry and chalky about the finish. Is it time for the stouts and barleywines? At least the leaves are starting to change color...

Rich orangy with a thin dense offwhite head. Sweet malt, relatively rich over a bit of floral peppery hops. A bit orangy. A bit toasty. Low carbonation, a bit creamy, low viscosity. A bit sweet. A bit rich in the malt. Relatively subdued malt though. Creamy, a bit toasty with a bit of floral to peppery orangy hops. A lingering bit of caramelly toast.

Draft. Clear dark golden color with small head. The taste was lighty malty with faint halloween spices. Really nothing special here.
